Letterman upgraded
You blogged. They listened… (we’re gonna have to drop the overuse of that one soon).
TEN has seen sense on Letterman.
It’s now moved it back to follow on from the late night run of The 7PM Project.
From Monday November 30 the rule of thumb will now be:
TEN Late News with Sports Tonight
The 7PM Project rpt
The Late Show with David Letterman.
Those replays of show like Medium, Numb3rs, Law & Order: CI etc will now follow Letterman. The downside is Nurse Jackie geta a 1:00am slot. Can’t have it all I guess…
There are …
Supernatural back for TEN’s summer

TEN airs US game shows Don’t Forget The Lyrics and, for the …
Returning: Criminal Minds, Bumped: Mercy, Momma’s Boys.
Seven is returning a new season of Criminal Minds to screens from next week.
It will air at 9:30pm Monday, pushing new US medical drama Mercy back an hour to 10:30pm.
Criminal Minds will return with “Faceless, Nameless” the first episode of the fifth season. It guest stars C. Thomas Howell.
Last night Mercy took 648,000 from its FlashForward lead in of 1.29m. It was beaten by The Apprentice Australia on 823,000 and Little Britain USA on 656,000.
The switch also means 10 Years Younger in 10 Days (NZ) is now out, with Momma’s Boys …
FlashForward debuts with 1.78m
New US drama FlashForward enjoyed a solid 1.78m viewers last night, landing as the #1 show of the night.
It was a strong debut for the new Seven acquisition after months of promotion and hype. The audience was strongest in Sydney where 516,000 viewers tuned in, just ahead of Melbourne’s 493,000. While it was nothing like the debuts for Desperate Housewives, Lost or even Prison Break it streaked ahead of its competitors, a fastracked Mentalist (988,000), Good News Week (828,000), Four Corners (814,000) and High Altitude (228,000) / South Park (173,000).
Seven was …
Idol returning to 7:30pm
Australian Idol is leaving its 6:30pm timeslot and returning to 7:30pm.
Dicko broke the news tonight on The 7PM Project.
“We’re listening to public opinion,” he said.
The change is immediate, beginning Sunday September 20th.
The show has been struggling this year with the network indicating its ratings were low due to a slimmer audience at 6:30pm.
On Sunday night it took just 990,000 with some media asking whether the show should be put to rest.
With Daylight Saving due to start on October 4th the network was also staring down the barrel of a more alarming …
Ratings super-battle looming
It’s shaping up as one of the biggest battles in the TV ratings year.
The week of September 27th sees big drawcards from all of our 5 Free to Air networks, hot on the heels of the US fall season. Get ready for some big guns, in what will surely be the mightiest week before the final survey week in late November.
And with Nine just tipping Seven last week, with considerable thanks to GO!, the fight is on to launch new titles.
On Sunday September 27th the usual battle between heavyweights Sunday Night, …
Idol struggles to stay relevant
Even with Suzi Quatro Australian Idol couldn’t crack the 1m mark last night -and it had no dancing celebrities to contend with either.
Idol now has a fight on its hands to stay relevant, and to fend off suggestions that dumping Kyle Sandilands was a mistake.
The Top 11 show, in which Ashleigh Toole was sent home, took 990,000 viewers, beaten by Border Security (1.54m), The Force (1.52m), Domestic Blitz, Sunday Night (both 1.24m) and Stephen Fry in America (1.11m).
Midsomer Murders (1.36m) defeated Rescue: Special Ops (1.01), Seven’s Bourne Ultimatum movie (965,000) …
Airdate: Little Britain USA
Despite having already aired by Showtime, Little Britain USA will now screen on TEN next month.
The series will air from 9:50pm Sunday September 13, following Rove.
Most of the principl characters from the UK original are revisited by Matt Lucas and David Walliams.
TEN locks in big shows
TEN has released major details of several new shows to launch in coming weeks.
Celebrity MasterChef will be slated as a Wednesday night programme. The one hour show is set to roll over 10 weeks.
Despite words to the contrary from programmer David Mott, NCIS: LA will be fastracked from the US, also to screen on Wednesday nights. Maybe TEN didn’t warm to the advice of many readers here who were urging for a quick turnaround. Still, it is the prerogative of network programmers to move their wares around -especially when it is …
60 Minutes: July 19
60 Minutes is going in hard against the MasterChef finale, with an interview with Jamie Neale, who survived for 12 days in the Blue Mountains before being miraculously found.
Tara Brown will chat with him about his ordeal.
Nine also has a cross-promo interview with Little Britain’s David Walliams and Matt Lucas, currently screening in repeats of their sketch comedy on the network. TEN will have the first FTA rights to Little Britain: USA later this year. Rather oddly, Nine even references The Chaser in their synopsis for the story…
The Survivor
Jamie …
Airdate: Little Britain USA
2009 could well be the year of Little Britain confusion, with the comedy team set to air on no less than three networks.
Things kick off on the Showcase channel with Little Britain USA, the edition Matt Lucas and David Walliams made for HBO in the US. There are several new characters including a little girl with the mouth of a truck driver, super-buff gym pals who’ll do anything, literally, for each other, and Bing Gordyn, the“eighth astronaut to go to the moon.”
It screens on Showcase from 8.00pm Sunday January 11. The series will …
Nine’s Secret Millionaire
In Nine’s 2008 ratings report it indicated some of the shows that are due next year. While most are already known to us there were two new titles:
Secret Millionaire and Little Britain.
Secret Millionaire is a British format in which millionaires give away tens of thousand of their own money after spending time living in a community where no one knows that they are wealthy. A US version also begins this week on FOX.
At this stage it’s unclear if Nine airs an international or local version -presumably, it wouldn’t involve a Packer….
