“Good chance” for more Curb Your Enthusiasm
Larry David has hinted at more Curb Your Enthusiasm at the PaleyFest 2010 in Los Angeles.
The Q & A event held by the Paley Center for Media allows audience consists of a fireside chat and audience questions.
Moderator Martin Miller of the Los Angeles Times asked Larry David about an eighth season of his wry comedy.
David paused briefly. “I think there’s a pretty good chance,” he said, as the crowd burst into applause. “We’re working on a couple of things.”

Stormworld actress up for US award
17 year old Australian actress Valentina Barron has been nominated for a Young Artist’s Award in the USA for her performance in Stormworld, the Perth-produced children’s series which is coming to Channel Nine.
Her competition includes Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly and Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana.
Two of Barron’s Canadian co-stars Andrew Jenkins and Calum Worthy also scored nominations for Leading Young Actor while all three are up for an ensemble cast award against Modern Family and iCarly.

The Writer’s Guild of America has handed out its annual awards, with wins going to Mad Men, 30 Rock, Modern Family and House.
There were also a couple of ties.

Renewals: NCIS: LA, The Good Wife
Good news for TEN with CBS renewing both NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife.
“Two great new series, fronted by talented stars on one big night of television,” said Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment. “We’re proud of these shows and what they’ve accomplished on Tuesday night.”
They will add to TEN’s new slate which has already seen Glee and Modern Family renewed.
Both NCIS: Los Angeles and The Good Wife, featuring Julianna Margulies, have enjoyed healthy ratings in the US.
Meanwhile, NBC has announced its replacements for the early-March, 10pm post-Jay Leno schedule …
Renewals: Glee, The Middle, Cougar Town, Modern Family
A number of new shows have had renewals in the US, proceeding to their second seasons.
The are Glee on FOX and The Middle, Cougar Town and Modern Family on ABC.
As a result each of our commercial networks gets at least one green light.
Glee will also add three new cast members, which it will solicit from a nationwide talent search. The hunt will include both professional and amateur performers between the ages of 16-26.

The votes are in.
Readers have spoken on their best and worst television for 2009 in the third annual TV Tonight Awards.
The winners: Shaun Micallef, MasterChef and Packed to the Rafters.
Over 1000 surveys were completed this year, and there were some definite trends. Some choices were clear decisions, others were tight races.
Several “winners” were also “losers” elsewhere, showing a divided audience, and a number of populist shows proved their mettle by staying ahead of underdogs.

Awards season rolls on as the Screen Actors Guild Awards announce their best picks for 2009 with Glee, Mad Men, 30 Rock, Dexter, True Blood and The Good Wife among the top nominees.
Once again Simon Baker and Toni Collette have landed lead acting nods.
In the unique best ensemble category for comedy, the fight is between 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Glee and Modern Family. In drama the teams from The Closer, Dexter, The Good Wife, Mad Men and True Blood are recognised.

WGA Awards 2009 / AFI Most Outstanding
Awards season is certainly hotting up in the US.
The Writer’s Guild of America has announced the best of the bunch in television writing for 2009.
Mad Men, 30 Rock and The Office are multiple nominees while Modern Family and Glee are both up for Comedy and New Series awards.
Amongst the other New Series contenders are Nurse Jackie, Hung and The Good Wife –totalling four of five shows to air in Australia on TEN.
In Animation it is a five horse race between writers of The Simpsons.

Lie to Me wins full season
Good news for fans of Lie to Me, and especially Network TEN, with confirmation the series has been picked up for a full season.
It follows an order for three more scripts last month by FOX.
The Tim Roth procedural series averaged 7.3 million viewers in its most recent episode in the US, and last night in Australia took 974,000. At 9:30pm it has been a good follow on after TEN’s strong NCIS lead in.
That makes a bunch of TEN’s US titles getting pick-ups including Glee, The Cleveland Show, Modern Family, NCIS: LA …
No risk for 20-TEN
A year ago when TEN unveiled its programming for 2009 it brazenly shocked the nation when it said Big Brother would be replaced by a cooking show. And it promised other local titles including Talkin’ ’Bout Your Generation, Guerilla Gardeners, Bondi Vet and even some that never eventuated: Australia’s Hidden Genius and Undercover Boss.
Unveiling its 2010 titles last night in Melbourne, TEN programmer David Mott played it both safe and sure, only promising one new local title, the Junior Masterchef spin-off. …
Castle wins full season
US mystery series Castle has received a full season pick-up by the ABC network.
That’s good news for the Seven Network which also has full seasons of FlashForward and Cougar Town from ABC. Seven returned new episodes on Sunday night, following Bones.
Meanwhile TEN has Modern Family and Nine has The Middle, all with full seasons from ABC.
In the US Castle has shown promise competing against CSI: Miami.
It will now have a full 22 episode season.

ABC grants FlashForward a future
FlashForward has been given a full series pickup by ABC.
That’s good news for Seven, which has much invested in the series succeeding.
It follows network greenlights for Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town last week.
The ABC mystery-drama has performed well enough for the network in its competitive Thursday-night slot.
In Australia it took a big premiere audience of 1.7m. Last night it had slipped to 1.5m but was up on last week and finished as the night’s top show.
