Survivor double dose
Survivor isn’t getting bumped by Nine, but boosted.
Next week Nine continues with the double episodes, which will see it catch up to the US even faster.
“Tonight We Make Our Move” and “Knights of the Round Table” will both air next Tuesday -the latter aired in the US only last week.
Ratings last night were rather soft, 735,000 / 710,000, thumped by My Kitchen Rules (1.53m) and NCIS (1.4m). It was a significant drop from Top Gear’s 1.31m lead in.
Perhaps plugging the leak from illegal downloads via a quicker turnaround of episodes will …
“Good chance” for more Curb Your Enthusiasm
Larry David has hinted at more Curb Your Enthusiasm at the PaleyFest 2010 in Los Angeles.
The Q & A event held by the Paley Center for Media allows audience consists of a fireside chat and audience questions.
Moderator Martin Miller of the Los Angeles Times asked Larry David about an eighth season of his wry comedy.
David paused briefly. “I think there’s a pretty good chance,” he said, as the crowd burst into applause. “We’re working on a couple of things.”
As for any more Seinfeld reunions, it’s a no go.
“We think …
Timeshifting boosts NCIS to #1
NCIS picked up an extra 122,000 viewers in Timeshifted viewers for Week 9. It was enough to rewrite the final week’s tally and shift the show from #2 to #1.
The US show was one of many dramas that picked up more viewers on the week beginning February 21st.
It was an increase of 8.8% on its original Live (and As Live) audience. Meanwhile Lost added an extra 36.4% of its audience from Timeshifting. It was also the show on digital channels to make the biggest gains.

Cooking pips cars on Tuesday
Nine might have to rethink its advertisements for Top Gear touting it as Australia’s new #1 show after last night it was pipped by My Kitchen Rules.
It was a line ball tussle but Seven’s cook-off pulled 1.4m viewers ahead of Nine’s first-run roadtest on 1.38m -well down on its season premiere. Both left Bondi Rescue / The Biggest Loser in their wake (934,000 / 774,000).
Nine’s second episode of Top Gear, which had already aired on SBS, slipped to 1.15m behind NCIS on 1.36m but bettered Grey’s Anatomy on 1.04m.
Other networks battles …
House tops Timeshifted
Top Gear’s premiere episode rose from 1.68m viewers to 1.77m viewers after Consolidated figures were released for Week 7. That meant 86,000 had Timeshifted the show within the next 7 days, boosting its status as the #1 show of the week.
But the biggest rises went to House (up 135,000) and The Good Wife (up 100,000) against One Day Cricket.
NCIS also gained 88,000 -enough to see it move from #5 for the week to #3.
Drama continues to be the big winner in Timeshifting, with extra gains for Grey’s Anatomy (Ep 1, 97,000 …
Top Gear drives up 1.68m viewers
Nine’s reputedly big fee in hijacking Top Gear from SBS appears to have paid off with a huge 1.68m viewers tuning in for the new episode last night.
The show was the #1 programme for Tuesday, driving right across My Kitchen Rules (1.21m) and The Biggest Loser / Bondi Rescue (722,000 / 966,000).
With all the advertisements Top Gear fans are questioning whether the episode had been trimmed. The BBC delivers a 52 minute international version to its clients. Nine maintains it didn’t edit the show, but it certainly dumped the credits …

TV Tonight Awards 2009: The year of Shaun Micallef
The votes are in.
Readers have spoken on their best and worst television for 2009 in the third annual TV Tonight Awards.
The winners: Shaun Micallef, MasterChef and Packed to the Rafters.
Over 1000 surveys were completed this year, and there were some definite trends. Some choices were clear decisions, others were tight races.
Several “winners” were also “losers” elsewhere, showing a divided audience, and a number of populist shows proved their mettle by staying ahead of underdogs.
Shaun Micallef won both Favourite Male and Most Underrated Performer, while Talkin’ ‘Bout Your …
Gone: Numb3rs, Jamie Oliver, Bumped: Futurama, White Collar.
Major changes to TEN’s summer line-up.

Supernatural is off next Monday to allow the double episode premiere of Stargate Universe at 8:30pm.
White Collar moves to 9:30pm replaced by a repeat of NCIS. So that means Numb3rs is out.
…oh and Jamie’s Family Christmas? The one where he was effectively going to be cooking turkey in January? That’s gone too. (Quote: “TEN will surely come to their …
Three Rivers in cardiac arrest
CBS has pulled Three Rivers from its Monday night schedule, effective immediately.
The news for the Alex O’Loughlin medical drama follows it being dumped by TENĀ just one episode in Australia.
The show, which is still in production will complete its order of 13 episodes, but a network spokesman could not say when it might return. It has been averaging 8.4 million viewers but audiences have been declining since its debut. Currently the show ranks #45th amongst primetime shows.
Three Rivers will be replaced by repeats of NCIS: LA, which is not so different …
Birth for a nation
The final week of the ratings year is over and it was a Rafters baby that defeated singing Idols, Celebrity Masterchefs, new Apprentices, Geeks and Robbie Williams. Seven enjoyed a clean sweep of Week 48, winning all 7 nights, 3 key demos and all 5 cities -it was almost a microcosm of 2009, but this year Nine has seen to it that it didn’t quite enjoy that triumph.
The Seven Network won Week 48 with 31.3% over Nine’s 26.8% and TEN’s 21.3%. The ABC had 15.2% and SBS 5.4%.
GO! had 3.1% over …
Lie to Me wins full season
Good news for fans of Lie to Me, and especially Network TEN, with confirmation the series has been picked up for a full season.
It follows an order for three more scripts last month by FOX.
The Tim Roth procedural series averaged 7.3 million viewers in its most recent episode in the US, and last night in Australia took 974,000. At 9:30pm it has been a good follow on after TEN’s strong NCIS lead in.
That makes a bunch of TEN’s US titles getting pick-ups including Glee, The Cleveland Show, Modern Family, NCIS: LA …
