The Biggest confuser: did Ajay quit?
Yesterday Ajay Rochester appeared on Nova to tell Merrick and Rosso, she decided to quit The Biggest Loser, “when I could no longer eat donuts and get away with it. You know when it was? It was last year when I missed Kai’s (her son) School Concert. That was actually the moment when I went, ‘you know what? I don’t think I’ve got another one in me.’”
But there’s just one problem. Earlier this month a TEN spokesperson told TV Tonight, “We have decided not to renew Ajay’s contract in order …
Airdate: Oprah’s Big Give
Hands up all those who can’t live without a dose of Oprah on their weekends?
Oh well, for the handful remaining, you’ve got more coming from Sunday March 22nd when TEN premieres Oprah’s Big Give from 12pm -a reality series spreading optimism and cash (‘cos they so go together) to needy Americans.
Hosted by interior designer Nate Berkus, the reality series sees 10 contestants travel to a different U.S. city to dish out money like good ol’ philanthropists. Sometimes they are assigned to help a particular individual or organisation, while others are simply …
Marital bliss becomes Seinfeld’s reality
Jerry Seinfeld is returning to network series television as creator and executive producer of an NBC reality series that looks at the lighter side of marriage problems.
Guest appearances, including on 30 Rock and Curb Your Enthusiasm, notwithstanding, it will end an 11 year absence in making network television.
Seinfeld’s Columbus 81 Productions are teaming with longtime Oprah executive producer Ellen Rakieten to create The Marriage Ref, a series that will feature opinionated celebrities, comedians and sports stars offering commentary and advice to real-life couples enduring “classic marital disputes.”
“I see it as a …
World AIDS Day programming
There was a time when World AIDS Day was acknowledged by all the networks with documentaries and music specials. Specials like Red, Hot and Blue or events hosted by Nelson Mandela dominated our screens. That was a time when awareness was championed by the wider media. In recent years it’s been left largely to pay television and SBS to mark the day. But falling on a Monday, even SBS doesn’t take time out this year from its most-cherished night of the week.
The ABC comes to the rescue tonight (9:40pm) with a …
When Oprah met Nicole & Hugh
TEN has wisely rushed its Oprah episode featuring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman into the schedule, to air in prime time at 7:30pm Thursday November 20th (this kind of late scheduling we like).
It bumps a special on Forbes 20 Under 25: Young, Rich & Famous to a week later November 27th. Care factor…
Getting a plug for Baz Luhrmann’s Australia will be a major coup for the film. It’s targeted right at its key audience by the most influential woman in the land.
As well as hosting a ‘tour of Sydney’ for viewers, …
Looking for the magic touch
TEN’s line up for 2009 includes more factual series than ever, returning favourites and new international content. After a disappointing 2008, especially in the second half, TEN will need the magic touch to win back loyal viewers.
The network made the announcement today as part of a three day tour across the country.
Headlining the announcement is the acquisition of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Cooking show MasterChef Australia will replace Big Brother across a 7pm timeslot mid year.
Another 7pm strip show is yet to be announced.
The new locally produced factual shows include …
Seven wins as TEN is taken out
It was the week that Ernie Dingo and Kyle Sandilands had a spat on radio, the ABC renewed its push for a kids’ channel, Access 31 was put on the market, TEN picked up women’s netball from FOX Sports, GTV9 won a Heritage listing, Nine axed its Euro correspondent, Underbelly won the right to start screening in Victoria (sort of), TEN and Seven fought over AFL sponsors and a 17yo reality contestant took a stand on her show’s conduct.
And it was another big win for Seven with 29.9% in Week 37 …
30 Rocks a Friday night
Heads up for fans of 30 Rock with an unusually scheduled episode appearing on Friday night, September 26th at 11:15pm.
“Sandwich Day” is the 2nd last episode in the series with guest stars Rip Torn and Brian Dennehy. Seven has slated it on a Friday in order to accommodate all episodes in its schedule, rather than leave eps unaired.
Meanwhile in the next series, both Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Winfrey are set to appear.
“We were very lucky to get her. She’s so alive — she’s funny and beautiful,” said Baldwin of Aniston. “She’s …
