ABC2 top of the Scrapheap
Britain’s Scrapheap Challenge, in which teams of contestants have 10 hours in which to build a working machine from a junkyard is the top rating show on ABC2.
It has a 6:30pm peak audience of 91,000.
Buoyed by the Paralympics, ABC2 has grown from a weekly reach of 700,000 to 1.5 million in three months. “Reach” is the number of different people who watch the network over one week, not the average number of viewers which is the norm in television ratings.

At the Movies adjustment
Next week’s At The Movies will not screen at its usual time on ABC1 due to the Paralympics Closing Ceremony.
Instead it will actually premiere in its normal ABC2 timeslot, at 8pm Saturday September 20. But it will also air on ABC1 as always on Sunday September 21st at 6pm.
Films to be reviewed include Caramel, Step Brothers, The Tender Hook, Wall•E, Australian flick Bitter and Twisted and the bizarrely titled Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

Airdate: Olympic Welcome Home Parade
Seven will air the welcome home parade for the 2008 Olympic Athletes taking place in Sydney next Monday at 12pm for 90 minutes.
A Melbourne parade airs at 1pm on Wednesday September 17th for one hour in Melbourne.
Given the time in between the closing ceremony and the welcome home parade is so long, it’s a shame they didn’t wait for the Paralympians to join them. From memory they get their own parade, hopefully to screen on ABC later.

Beijing ready for Paralympics
The Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games begins at 9:50pm Saturday night on ABC1 and ABC2. As previously noted, it will be commentated by Adam Hills, Louise Sauvage and Karen Tighe.
Most of the events can be seen on ABC2 in afternoon and evening sessions. On Sunday the first events will include Swimming Heats, Track Cycling and Wheelchair Basketball Womens AUS v GBR.
Highlights packaged screen on ABC1 at 6pm and 11:30pm daily.
All events screen on ABC HD and are available on iView.
