WGA Awards 2009 / AFI Most Outstanding
Awards season is certainly hotting up in the US.
The Writer’s Guild of America has announced the best of the bunch in television writing for 2009.
Mad Men, 30 Rock and The Office are multiple nominees while Modern Family and Glee are both up for Comedy and New Series awards.
Amongst the other New Series contenders are Nurse Jackie, Hung and The Good Wife –totalling four of five shows to air in Australia on TEN.
In Animation it is a five horse race between writers of The Simpsons.

US comedy series Party Down, co-created by Rob Thomas and Paul Rudd (amongst others), will air on Movie Extra from December.
Featuring Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch and even Jennifer Coolidge, it centres on a group of wannabe actors, struggling to find their break in the brutal world of entertainment. They travel to Los Angeles to find fame and fortune in Hollywood but while waiting for the world to acknowledge their talent, they are forced to support themselves earning a meagre living as caterers.

Karen: The Musical
Megan Mullally is planning to resurrect Will and Grace’s inimitable character, Karen Walker, in a stage show -Karen: The Musical (or is that Keerin The Musical?).
“The main thing is Karen is such a great character, and people really want to see her again,” Mullally told the LA Times.
Her television nemesis Leslie ‘Beverley Leslie’ Jordan is set to join her for the show, which she envisions will open in Los Angeles before heading to New York.
