ABC3 tracking well with kids
The ABC is singing the praises of ABC3, which it claims is the most popular channel for kids aged 5- 12.
Since launching nine weeks ago, the channel is now the top daytime channel among 5-12s (6am-6pm) across all FTA and Pay TV channels. Amongst those viewers it has a share of 13.1% compared to ABC1 (10.7%), Nine (8.3%), Disney Channel (6.9%) and Nickelodeon at (5.3%). Of course, not all children’s channels on Pay TV are aimed at the same target of viewers.

Every kid wants to be on Prank Patrol, but…
Since launching ABC3 in early December, it isn’t the pride of place drama My Place that is resonating most with the young audience, but Scotty Tweedie and his Prank Patrol Ninjas.
In the show, kids get the chance to create, build and execute the prank of a lifetime on their chosen target – a friend, sibling, or even their class.
Production company activeTV, which also produces Carols in the Domain, The Amazing Race Asia, Tropfest and the Country Music Awards of Australia, could be set for a long run with the show …
TV Tonight Awards 2009: The year of Shaun Micallef
The votes are in.
Readers have spoken on their best and worst television for 2009 in the third annual TV Tonight Awards.
The winners: Shaun Micallef, MasterChef and Packed to the Rafters.
Over 1000 surveys were completed this year, and there were some definite trends. Some choices were clear decisions, others were tight races.
Several “winners” were also “losers” elsewhere, showing a divided audience, and a number of populist shows proved their mettle by staying ahead of underdogs.
Shaun Micallef won both Favourite Male and Most Underrated Performer, while Talkin’ ‘Bout Your …

Prank on Rudd at ABC3 launch
Whatever went down behind the cameras with Kevin Rudd at Friday’s ABC3 launch nobody is saying…
But now it involves the Australian Federal Police, the silent treatment from ABC Management, and the silent treatment from the PM’s office.
ABC Online reported yesterday that a number of contract cleaners had been marched off the premises following a security scare, also being branded as a prank.
But their union says the cleaners involved had not contacted the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union.
According to the Sunday Age, ABC managing director Mark Scott sent a memo …
