Austar promises to monitor MA15+ content
Austar has given an enforceable undertaking to the Australian Communications and Media Authority to ensure that it does not broadcast content rated higher than MA15+.
Earlier this year ACMA ruled that two episodes of Cathouse, an HBO reality series on a Nevada brothel, breached the ASTRA Subscription Television Codes of Practice.
The episodes contained sexual content and nudity deemed higher than the MA15+ classification. Content higher than MA15+ can only be shown on narrowcasting such as the Adult Channel with lockout.
Austar must now review all episodes of Cathouse prior to broadcast, attend …

Rude TV in firing line again
The Christian lobby is apparently in the warpath against television it claims has ramped up sex and violence content.
The Australian Christian Lobby has launched the “Tame the Tube” campaign to combat what it says are industry attempts to weaken TV standards (Mary Whitehouse’s “Clean Up TV” campaign anyone?).
“Sex, violence and foul language are normal fare these days as TV networks push the boundaries,” ACL managing director Jim Wallace told the Daily Telegraph.
The group has also called for tighter restrictions on the promotion of M, MA and AV programs at times when …

Significantly, both were ‘hits by accident’, trialled by Nine over summer and left long enough on air to …

Ramsay to cut back swearing
Love him or loathe him, it just wouldn’t be the same. Gordon Ramsay says he will try to play nicer.
The famously foul-mouthed TV chef wants to be known for his cooking instead, reports The Mirror.
A source told the newspaper that he has become tired of people asking him to sign books ‘F*** off, Gordon Ramsay’.
“He’s aware of the current criticism and complaints about too much swearing and wants to tone things down in keeping with the attitude of the public,” the source said.
“There is not much chance of him presenting entire …
