ABC to boost Indigenous content
The ABC will step up its Indigenous content with the appointment of Sally Riley in a newly-created position of Head of ABC TV’s Indigenous Department.
Riley has been Head of Screen Australia’s Indigenous Unit for the last nine years. At the ABC she will be responsible for developing and commissioning an expanded slate of prime-time drama and documentary projects as well as the ongoing production of magazine programme Message Stick.

1.47m for Idol
Australian Idol averaged 1.47m last night for the moment when 19yo soul singer Stan Walker was announced as winner.
It pulled its biggest audience in Sydney with 476,000 viewers over Melbourne’s 421,000 viewers between 9:21 and 9:47 “The Winner Announced.”
TEN divided the show into no less than three parts, broadly dividing into a first hour, second hour and winning announcement. The first two sections averaged 1.1m and 1.23m respectively.
Its peak audience during the closing moments was 1.71m.

IF Awards: Red Carpet / Winners
Spoilers: Sydney’s Luna Park turned it on for the 11th annual Kodak Inside Film Awards last night, on a warm spring night against the glorious backdrop of the harbour. There were plenty of television stars in attendance, and two TV titles even walked away with a prize.

The 2009 ARIA Awards will air on Nine at 8:30pm Thursday November 26th until 11pm.
As previously noted, it will be hosted by Kate Ritchie and Gyton Grantley at Acer Arena, Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush. This year’s Awards ceremony will be staged ‘In the Round’ for the first time.
MTV will have the Red Carpet broadcast from 7.30pm. Both events will be delayed.
On Friday November 27th, MTV will screen both the Red Carpet at 4:30pm followed by the ARIA Awards at 5.30pm.

Jessica Mauboy sweeps 2009 Deadly Awards
At the 2009 Deadly Awards, former Australian Idol singer Jessica Mauboy won four awards including Single Release of the Year, Album Release of the Year, Female Artist of the Year. She also won APRA Song of the Year. She is also nominated for the upcoming ARIA Awards.
Warwick Thornton won Outstanding Achievement in Film for Samson & Delilah, which airs soon on ABC.

It tells the story of two 14 year olds who steal a car when tragedy strikes and embark on a journey of survival. It was filmed in and around Alice Springs.
