Airdate: 50 to 1: All Time Greatest Movie Quotes.

“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”

That Gone with the Wind line was the top movie quote of all time according to a 2005 special recorded for CBS, to celebrate the 100th year of the American Film Institute. The special aired on Seven some time ago.

Bert Newton is about to count down the same topic in an extended 50 to 1: All Time Greatest Movie Quotes.

But in 2007, Nine aired 50 to 1: Great Movie One Liners. Will there be any discernable difference?

Nine confirmed to TV Tonight this is …

Gone: Moonlight. Returning: Secret Diary of a Call Girl

Nine is dumping Moonlight again.

After the show took 282,000 viewers on Tuesday is has been pulled by the network. Last time it was pulled was January 2008, until Nine decided to drag it out for a belated continuation that it blatantly dubbed a ‘New Series.’

Last week it had 288,000.

Nine will replace it with repeats of Secret Diary of a Call Girl from next Tuesday November 3rd.

It returns to Series 1 Ep 1.

Alex O’Loughlin fans sure are having a rough time of it lately…

Tell ‘em they’re dreamin’

Nine didn’t do so well on Tuesday night, coming third behind TEN for the night.

So is that why it has scheduled The Castle to air at 9:30pm on Tuesday March 31st? It’s even feelgood family fare on a night without Packed to the Rafters -right down to including Michael Caton.

The network was yet todeclare what would replace Aussie Ladette to Lady which ends next week.

In slating the movie it does mean Bridezillas is out for the week (at only its third episode) with a night-time edition of The Ellen DeGeneres Show …

Airdate: Bridezillas

The Nine Network continues its Tuesday reality night by bringing US series Bridezillas to replace Secret Diary of a Call Girl which ends on March 10th.

It begins 10:30pm Tuesday March 17th.

The series is another that has already aired on subscription television. It follows the lives of engaged women, putting together their weddings with controlling, hysterical and erratic behaviour.

The show began production in 2001 but Nine will pick up from the third series (2005).

Aussie Ladette to Lady

As Nine continues to skew younger and younger to advertising friendly demographics it has been stocking up on racy shows: Kitchen Nightmares, Underbelly, Balls of Steel, How to have Sex After Marriage, Secret Diary of a Call Girl and even Adults Only 20 to 1. You could be forgiven for thinking somewhere the ghost of Kerry Packer might be reaching for the phone.

Now it’s got a local version of ITV’s Ladette to Lady.

“In Australia there’s a new kind of woman emerging,” says a British narrator. “Loud, vulgar, drunken and dangerous. They’re …

Returning: Secret Diary of a Call Girl

The second series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl starring Billie Piper returns to Nine on Tuesday February 17th.

The British drama will air at 10:30pm.

Rated MA there are 2 episodes airing. As just 8 eps were made the series should last just 4 weeks.

They aired in the UK. A third series is yet to begin filming.

Call Girl will follow the second episode of Aussie Ladette to Lady which moves to Tuesdays at 9:30pm after its premiere on Monday February 16th.

Nine’s “first quarter” in ‘09

Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities, Wipeout Australia, Aussie Ladette to Lady, Sea Patrol, Flashpoint, Crusoe (pictured) and Local Heroes are some of the shows Nine intends to air in the ‘first quarter’ of 2009.

Also due early in the new television year are the Jules Lund-hosted For Richer For Poorer, which seeks to find the perfectly wedded couple. Amongst the contestants on this show are a gay male couple.

What’s Good For You is back, now with new host Dr Andrew Rochford (The Waiting Room).

Also in the first quarter Nine will also screen …

Nine’s Secret Millionaire

In Nine’s 2008 ratings report it indicated some of the shows that are due next year. While most are already known to us there were two new titles:

Secret Millionaire and Little Britain.

Secret Millionaire is a British format in which millionaires give away tens of thousand of their own money after spending time living in a community where no one knows that they are wealthy. A US version also begins this week on FOX.

At this stage it’s unclear if Nine airs an international or local version -presumably, it wouldn’t involve a Packer….

As …

Credit where its due

Ok, this is a shameless plug.

In the last two weeks both Channel TEN and Channel Nine have borrowed quotes from TV Tonight in on-air promos for two of their dramas, Life and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Whoever said they weren’t paying attention?

Using such quotes is clearly a win / win. It gives the shows a snappy critique and it gives this site a little extra exposure. Nine even went one better than TEN and listed the full address with the .com.au (cheers guys!).

TV Tonight has long been aware that …

Super-replay-model

Seven is really, and I mean really, pushing Make Me a Supermodel with another repeat of last week’s episode set for tomorrow.

It will air at 12 midday on Thursday, followed by a repeat of the offshoot Off The Runway at 1pm.

Repeats, or “encores” as some have dubiously called them, are often employed to create awareness of under-performing shows. All three commercial networks dabble with this strategy from time to time. Last night the “behind the scenes” edition attracted 436,000 viewers, beaten by Secret Diary of a Call Girl at 578,000.

So far …

Secret Diary of Matt

If you caught any of Secret Diary of a Call Girl last night, you might be interested to know that next week Australian actor Matt Day has a supporting role.

Day appears as a Hotel Concierge in the raunchy UK series based on the blogs of a former London hooker.

In his scene with star Billie Piper, Day asks “Belle” to describe the real lives of anonymous hotel guests, and their sexual habits.

Certainly a long way from his first role in A Country Practice.

It screens 10:30pm Tuesday on Nine.
