Renewed: Smallville
The CW has renewed Smallville for a 10th season.
10 seasons is quite a feat in television these days, and even better given many presumed it would die after the exit of Michael Rosenbaum.
Insiders confirm there will be a full 22-episode order but there is no word if it will be designed as a final season.
Despite starting out as a series set on the Kansas farm, the show has recently shifted the action to Metropolis as the young Clark graduates into becoming Superman.
Will this be the year he becomes Superman? And will …

The CW Network has been busy giving renewals to four of its dramas and one reality series as Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, and America’s Next Top Model are given early pick-ups in the US.
But left hanging in the balance are Smallville, Melrose Place, One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected.
The Vampire Diaries is the youth network’s most-watched show, averaging 4.6 million viewers and the network’s number one show among adults 18-34.
The CW also calls Supernatural fans “one of the most loyal audiences of any show on television and does …
Report: Supernatural renewed for Season 6
US website CinemaSpy is confirming Supernatural has been renewed for a sixth season.
Although the CW Network hs not yet made any announcements, a renewal has been tipped for some time.
Creator Eric Kripke has recently said “I’m looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story.”
The website also recently reported a tenth season for Smallville.
“…industry insiders have pointed out to CinemaSpy that Smallville, Supernatural and Gossip Girl are the lynchpins of The CW’s scripted line-up. Without those shows, the argument …
The Vampire Diaries
Kevin Williamson sure knows his stuff.
Having first hit the heights of success with Dawson’s Creek, and the schlocky but fun films Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer (amongst other hits), he is well attuned with the youth entertainment market.
He also knows vampire lore and the adolescent market go hand in hand.
In adapting L.J. Smith’s novels The Vampire Diaries into episodic television, he’s thrown everything at this teen horror series: pretty kids, hot romance, billowing fog, pretty kids, wild parties, high school bimbos, theatrical photography, cemeteries, peril, waterfalls, a …

Trailer: Smallville
Clark Kent is somewhere in this look at the ninth season of Smallville, just not as the superboy we usually recognise.
The series is maturing its central character, and will begin to show glimpses of Superman’s “iconic ‘S’” featured significantly throughout the season. His suit will be black, with a silver Superman “S” on the front, as well a trench coat that doubles as a cape.
This season’s theme is “Clark’s darkest hour”, and will be about him “embracing the fact that he is an alien”.
The writers are not “story-wise, approaching this season …

Glimmer of hope for Gossip Girl spin-off
Although its prospects aren’t great, CW President Dawn Ostroff hasn’t ruled out the Gossip Girl spin-off just yet.
The LA Times reports the network developed six drama pilots, including the spin-off, Valley Girls (former working title ‘Lily’) starring Brittany Snow, which aired as part of a Gossip Girl episode two weeks ago but was not received very well by fans.
“We were nervous about shooting so many pilots but every one of the pilots was a tough contender for us,” she said. “They all were really, really good. We do have room for …

World of Make Believe
In the last few years Britain has renewed its television love affair with the fantasy genre. The success of Doctor Who has led to newer shows in Torchwood, Primeval and now, Merlin.
Producer and Co-Creator Johnny Capps actually began work in the genre with Hex in 2004. Despite being an American-dominated form of television, he tells TV Tonight Britain has embraced fantasy once more.
“There’s been quite a few actually. I think that kind of appointment television in England on a Saturday night has become quite a big thing. If you look at …
D-Day for Definition
The arrival of ONE HD tonight is a big, bold step by Network TEN in the switch to digital television.
A 24 hour sports channel will provide many armchair sports fans with oodles of events, some of them big, many that are obscure, for TEN viewers in 5 capital cities. Regional viewers now know, somewhat belatedly, they are struggling to be heard in an issue TEN has handballed to Southern Cross.
Yesterday TEN announced its sponsors for ONE including Harvey Norman, Hungry Jacks, Mars, Panasonic, Pokerstars.net and Sportsbet.
But the arrival also marks the …
