The special is the last of the ‘decade specials’ from the show this year (yeah they did 60s, 70s, 80s but no 90s) and airs on Wednesday night.

Top ABC executive quits
The ABC has lost a key creative executive with the resignation of Courtney Gibson, Executive Head of Content Creation.
She will take up the position of Director of Programmes at Southern Star Entertainment after six years with ABC TV.
ABC’s Kim Dalton said, “I am sad to see Courtney leave ABC TV. Courtney has made a significant contribution to Australian content output during her time here. In recognition of that, her role expanded during the six years from Head of Entertainment to the Executive Head of Content Creation in 2007.

Survey: We luv Australian telly
The ABC has released the results of a Newspoll survey in its campaign for increased funding from the federal government.
The survey conducted nationally for the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance, found:
- 64% of Australians think the government should regulate the minimum amount of Australian programmes shown on Free to Air.
- 69% believe the government should regulate a minimum amount of Australian programming on the ABC.
- 64% believe it is important Australian programs can be accessed through new media platforms.
- 65% want increased funding for Australian children’s shows on the ABC.

ABC2 top of the Scrapheap
Britain’s Scrapheap Challenge, in which teams of contestants have 10 hours in which to build a working machine from a junkyard is the top rating show on ABC2.
It has a 6:30pm peak audience of 91,000.
Buoyed by the Paralympics, ABC2 has grown from a weekly reach of 700,000 to 1.5 million in three months. “Reach” is the number of different people who watch the network over one week, not the average number of viewers which is the norm in television ratings.
