Survivor replay

Survivor has a replay of its episodes due this Sunday arvo, in case you missed it on Tuesday.

It will air at 1pm in Sydney and Brissy and 2pm in Melbourne.

Other cities should check local guides, but it will probably be 2pm…..

After Easter, it’s war.

It’s hard to believe, but we’re only three and a half weeks away from non-ratings again.

Yep, two weeks of Easter non-ratings begin on March 28th and end on April 10th. It barely feels like the television year has begun, and certainly with the Olympics it hasn’t been much of a level playing field.

Between now and then Nine is rolling out Top Gear, V and Survivor while Seven and TEN are by and large staying the course with shows already unveiled.

From April 11th the ball game changes. That’s when networks have a …

Returning: Survivor

The latest season of Survivor, “Heroes vs Villains” will air on Nine from Tuesday March 9th.

The reality series will premiere at 8:40pm following a new episode of Top Gear -and by the looks of things, Nine will be running a 70 minute episode of the motoring show. Nine has maintained it didn’t make cuts to the first episode which aired last week.

The big audience lead-in should help Survivor which has not been given such a profile timeslot by Nine in the ratings season for some years.

Two episodes of the new season …

Nine: After the Olympics

Nine has released details of its programming for the week of February 28, when the Olympics winds up.

Despite some TBAs, it heralds the return of Domestic Blitz, 60 Minutes, the newly titled Kerri-Anne, Kitchen Nightmares USA, plus returning Cold Case and CSI: NY. The second Whizz Kids Millionaire episode will air, while the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics screens live in the daytime with an evening replay.

Nine will also air the Wicked Love telemovie in this week, likely to be slated in the 8:30pm Sunday slot.

Nine is yet to declare …

Jeff Probst back for more Survivor

Immunity is back up for grabs on Survivor as Jeff Probst signs on for two more seasons of the hit CBS reality show.

Probst confirmed via his Twitter feed, “I’ll be back snuffing torches for two more seasons.”

He will also continue to serve as an executive producer on the show.

CBS recently renewed the series for two more cycles, but Probst was yet to be confirmed.

The Emmy winning host has previously renewed contract extensions for only one year instead of two.

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains premieres on Thursday in the US. After the brand …

TEN’s tough Tuesday

Seven’s new cooking contest won its timeslot on night two as My Kitchen Rules increased to 1.18m viewers (up from 1.10m). With Nine committed to the Survivor finale (892,000 / 804,000) it gave Seven a window of opportunity.

The return of Grey’s Anatomy (1.21m) in the traditional Rafters slot was even better news. Together with its standard early night line-up, Seven took the night comfortably on 31.6% to Nine’s 27.1% and TEN’s 18.9%.

The best for TEN was So You Think You Can Dance Australia on 872,000 -down from Sunday’s premiere of 1.16m …

Renewed: Survivor, Amazing Race.

Once again, Immunity is back up for grabs.

CBS has just ordered two more seasons of Survivor and one more for The Amazing Race.

With “Heroes v Villains” about to launch shortly, Survivor is now assured to its 22nd season. Host and Producer Jeff Probst is currently signed for the upcoming season.

Nine has promised to air the next season, after the franchise performed well over summer. But those Winter Olympics may get in the way of Fastracking.

A new Amazing Race begins in the US on February 14 with two former Big Brother (US) …

Eden Gaha, Executive Producer, Storyteller.

Around the time he was hosting the kid’s game show Vidiot for the ABC, Eden Gaha was on the cover of magazines with the likes of Dieter Brummer, Alex Dimitriadis and Craig McLachlan.

But he eventually turned his back on being an on-air presenter to pursue his dream of Producing.

Having worked in the US for 8 years, he is now so high in the realm of Mark Burnett Productions that he is Executive Producer on The Celebrity Apprentice. It was a bold risk to shun the spotlight, but a move without regrets.

“It’s …

..and here come the Nine shows

Nine has now advised its schedule for the week of January 31st (sent late last night, possibly after confirming Seven’s plans published here?).

In the lead-up to official ratings it will return new Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Getaway, 20 to 1, air new episodes of CSI: NY, Without a Trace, Cold Case and conclude Survivor: Samoa.

It also begins a new season of Customs, now narrated by Damian Walshe-Howling instead of Vince Colosimo.

Nine has one week of official ratings from February 7th before the Winter Olympics begin on …

So what’s been your summer gem?

The other week a journalist asked me for some quotes on how our TV summer season was faring and I pointed out that historically, the 09 / 10 season has offered an abundance of choice -at least compared to when we had just 5 channels, half of which were stuck on sport.

This year the amount of content has boomed, thanks to our extra digital channels.

But when the article appeared in print, readers hit back saying summer is still a dead zone. I got slammed. Well, it is if you stick with …

Survivor finale update

Survivor fans might get a bit of surprise tonight with the first episode at 7:30pm being a highlights episode.

But Nine is actually airing the episodes in the same order as they aired in the US, where the clip edition airs during the Thanksgiving holiday week. It might have been nice if Nine had skipped this one. At least the second episode gets back to basics.

There are two more episodes next week, but on Australia Day January 26 the final instalments won’t air due to cricket commitments.

That leaves the 2 hr finale …

Timeshifted ratings: What we’re watching later on

Supernatural, Private Practice, Survivor, Stargate: Universe, Californication, Bones, Cold Case, Fringe and Top Gear are the top shows we are recording and watching later, according to early figures released by OzTAM.

Since December 27 OzTAM has begun adding Timeshifted, or Consolidated, figures to its Ratings in a major change to its survey data. It tallies the programmes that are watched up to 7 days after their live airing, now known as the “Overnight” figure. Homes with OzTAM People Meters are now recognising what is watched on recording equipment including PVRs, DVRs and …
