Taken Out taken out of 7pm slot

Channel TEN has moved on its under-performing new dating show, Taken Out.

It will move from 7pm to 6pm immediately, with Friends moving back to the 7:00 slot.

Taken Out has been on air for two weeks now, with disappointing figures. It premiered to 851,000 but dropped to 581,000 on Friday.

The show hosted by James Kerley pits 30 contestants for a date with one single, so far only girls have comprised the group. 30 guys will get their turn for a date with a single female next week.

Of most concern for TEN is …

Seven wins as TEN is taken out

It was the week that Ernie Dingo and Kyle Sandilands had a spat on radio, the ABC renewed its push for a kids’ channel, Access 31 was put on the market, TEN picked up women’s netball from FOX Sports, GTV9 won a Heritage listing, Nine axed its Euro correspondent, Underbelly won the right to start screening in Victoria (sort of), TEN and Seven fought over AFL sponsors and a 17yo reality contestant took a stand on her show’s conduct.

And it was another big win for Seven with 29.9% in Week 37 …

But when are we Taken Out the boys?

Last week TEN premiered it’s new dating series Taken Out with 30 girls and one single guy. It had a modest first week with some viewers unimpressed and others warming to a change of pace in the 7pm timeslot. TEN is no doubt hoping it will build a following amongst its younger demographic.

One of the variations in the format is that the tables will be turned and there will be 30 single guys vying for a date with one single girl. But when?

It will be disappointing to wade through another week …

Seven packed with hits

It was the week ASTRA and Seven got into a stoush over AFL, gardening gurus came out fighting, SBS took its funding campaign to the people, Today Tonight apologised to a dating a dating agency and Lateline apologised to the Corbys, WIN TV sacked a news chief, David Koch stumbled over the marvels of “fasttracking v downloading,” we lost a veteran actor with a huge list of credits, and our first gardening celebrity, while actor Mark Priestley was laid to rest.

And it was another win for Seven, with 29.4% in Week …

Take two on Taken Out

One contestant on Taken Out seemed just that little bit more familiar than the others…

Kalia, who was the lucky girl on Tuesday night to win a date with the single guy, will be remembered by viewers who saw the first episode of Power of Ten on Channel Nine earlier this year.

Of course in television there’s always a queue of ready-made contestants happy to move from show to show. Last year we even had one contestant on 1 vs 100 appearing on the same night as their appearance on The Rich …

Taken Out

There’s such a thing as a blind date, and such a thing as speed-dating. If Perfect Match was the television former, Taken Out is the latter.

In this thirty minute game show, thirty single women, mostly in their 20s, put themselves in contention for a chance to date a single guy.

As the host, James Kerley, tells us this is the first time anywhere in the world this show has been attempted (it’s apparently an overseas format tried first by TEN).

The premise is alarmingly simple. One guy tells us a bit about …

Returning: The Simpsons

New episodes of The Simpsons are back on TEN from September 9th at 7:30pm.

“N for Nerder” is one of seven more remaining episodes in the 19th season.

It aired in the US in March.

It will be followed by a repeat of “Treehouse of Horror #17.”

Meanwhile repeats of The Simpsons remain at 6pm when Taken Out premieres at 7pm Monday September 1st.

Friends will be out of schedule after next week.
