Charlie’s Angels nears new mission
America continues to look to the past for its future with the ABC Network is said to be close to greenlighting a new version of Charlie’s Angels.
The update will be helmed by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Josh Friedman, and Leonard Goldberg, who produced the original series with Aaron Spelling in 1976, plus Drew Barrymore.
Barrymore also featured in the 2000 feature film adaptation.
The new Angels is expected to be geared toward a new generation while paying homage to the past. Maybe Ian Thorpe can play the executive?
The series made news recently …
Terminator star on drink driving
Thomas Dekker, who played ‘John Connor’ on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, after allegedly hitting a cyclist, according to the TMZ website.
He was arrested on Wednesday night.
A police report states the actor hit a 17-year-old who was trying to ride his bike past a freeway on-ramp.
The report explains that the victim was “ejected” from his bike and fell onto the street. Police say the cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
Dekker was later released on $100,000 bail.

The cancelled list
As the US Fall Season nears it’s time to take stock of the shows in the US that are not moving forward (including two Aussie adaptations).
Whilst many of us are up to speed on most of these, sometimes one or two escape out attention, and others kinda never get cancelled but remain in permanent hiatus.
For the record here is the list of those that are no more:
ABC has cancelled Cupid, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, In the Motherhood, Kyle XY, Life on Mars, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who, Surviving Suburbia, and The …

Additional titles that have not received any earlier press include TMZ at 11am / 7:30pm weeknights, and The ARIA Music …

How Terminator could have ended
Spoilers: “I feel like I don’t want to raise anybody’s expectations about what’s going to happen with those characters,” James Middleton, executive producer of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles said. He hopes to continue the story of the cancelled series in another format.
“I can tell you that I love those characters. I use a business term, and it sort of belies my emotional investment in these characters, but they are a great franchise asset. My passion for them is not diminished at all, and I’ll just leave it at that.”
The season …
Axed: Terminator, Unusuals. Renewed: Cold Case, Bones
No real surprises here: Terminator: The Sarah Cxonnor Chronicles has been cancelled by FOX.
The end of the road comes on the eve of the feature film release Terminator: Salvations starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington.
ABC has pulled the plug on The Unusuals, a series that is on Nine’s drama list.
More positively for the network, Cold Case has been renewed for a seventh season.
However, Without a Trace is looking “unlikely” to return, insiders confirm.
Vampire Diaries is the first CW series to land a pickup for Fall. Based on novels about a young …
Decision time for US dramas
America is fast approaching decision time for a number of series that air in Australia.
Not all shows that haven’t been renewed yet are in jeopardy: For such series as CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, which traditionally gets picked up at the last minute, and ABC’s Ugly Betty, the orders are just a formality.
But that can’t be said for a dozen or so other series anxiously awaiting their fate.
CBS has the most, including a quartet of long-running procedurals — Without a Trace, Cold Case, Numb3rs and The Unit — along with …
Home & Away actress joins Melrose remake
Former Home and Away star Stephanie Jacobsen is the latest cast member to join the new version of Melrose Place (it’s still a crappy idea to revive it).
The actress, who starred as Doctor Charlotte Adams in the soap, has signed on to play Lauren, a medical student at UCLA, who moonlights as a high-end call girl.
Jacobsen, 28, joins previously cast Michael Rady, Katie Cassidy, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Jessica Lucas on The CW remake.
She also recently appeared in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Nine to launch ‘entertainment channel’
We have lift off. The Nine Network has finally confirmed plans for its multi-channelling, with a general entertainment free-to-air digital channel launching in the second half of the year.
“Yes. It will be an original channel,” Nine CEO Mr Gyngell told The Australian. “It will be stand-alone, not just time-shifted.”
The announcements shoots rumours of a time-shifted channel dead in the water. Gyngell indicated that while it could work as part of the strategy, time-shifting was not a strong enough basis for an entire channel. Clearly, that’s because it cannibalises your flagship channel. …
