September TV loves sport
Sport is surging in September. Two AFL matches roared to over 1.4m giving Seven and TEN some big victories, notably helping the latter save face after an ordinary week. NRL topped 1m at Nine and also helped the network win Sunday. But while audiences fluctuate it was GO! that again got Nine across the line to win Week 38 -the second such glory in a row.
Nine finished with 28.9% ahead of Seven’s 27.5% and TEN’s 20.7%. The ABC had 17.7% and SBS 5.2%.
Nine won all key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Marena Manzoufas isn’t a name that’s as well known as David Mott, Tim Worner or Michael Healy but it’s no less integral to our television viewing.
Manzoufas is Head of Programming for the ABC, a position she has held for the last 8 years. In the first of a rare two-part interview with TV Tonight, she talks about her approaches to ABC1 and ABC2, and the role of the public broadcaster.

The cancelled list
As the US Fall Season nears it’s time to take stock of the shows in the US that are not moving forward (including two Aussie adaptations).
Whilst many of us are up to speed on most of these, sometimes one or two escape out attention, and others kinda never get cancelled but remain in permanent hiatus.
For the record here is the list of those that are no more:
ABC has cancelled Cupid, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, In the Motherhood, Kyle XY, Life on Mars, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who, Surviving Suburbia, and The …

Swayze hospitalised with pneumonia
Patrick Swayze has been hospitalised with pneumonia, a television network executive has said.
Swayze, who is battling pancreatic cancer, skipped a round of interviews scheduled to promote his new crime drama The Beast.
A spokeswoman for Swayze confirmed that the actor had been hospitalised in Los Angeles, but declined to provide further details on his condition.
Swayze most recently told Barbara Walters this week that he might have only two years to live.
“I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” he told her. “Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics. I …
