Farmer wants a pixellation
Who would have thought it was necessary to blur the faces of a farmer from the media?
But this recent photo from the upcoming series of The Farmer Wants a Wife published in Mildura’s Sunraysia Daily newspaper, pixellates one of the blokes, presumably to keep his identity hush hush.
As a Virgin Blue jet landed on the regional runway, about 70 people watched a camera crew filming his arrival with three ladies he had chosen to spend more time with. Wouldn’t they be the ones that should be pixellated?
In any event they …
Auditions: The Farmer Wants a Wife
The Farmer Wants a Wife is now casting singles for its fifth season.
True love, it seems, can indeed be facilitated by reality television. The Nine series has notched up one marriage, one baby and two engagements.
There are 10 farmers in the race, including 2 females. Six of them will make it to the on-air series, but all applications received for all candidates are forwarded regardless.
Each of the successful farmers will pick six men or women for a speed date. Three potential wives or husbands will then be chosen for a 10-day …
The Farmer wants an engagement
The Farmer Wants a Wife has another validation for its existence with news that two more contestants are getting engaged.
Farmer Brad Crane, who appeared in the last series, proposed to Stacie over takeaway fish and chips on a beach, and sure enough she has said ‘Yes.’
Crane, 29 from Lithgow, says he only went on the show for a bit of fun.
“I didn’t think there would be much chance of finding a bloody wife on national television. I still can’t believe my luck,” he said.
But it’s good news for the Nine dating …
Farmer doesn’t want a wife
Rebecca Davis, one half of a Farmer Wants a Wife couple, found out about the state of her romance with Queensland sugar cane farmer Gavin Pahlke (pictured) after reading TV Week.
Pahlke is reported in the article as saying the pair were at a “standstill/stop/don’t know” phase -which was news to Davis, 45.
She now says, “my heart is broken” after reading the article. Their romance had remained strong five months after filming ended.
“I can’t quite believe it. I read all the stories saying we were broken up, but Gavin just kept …

September TV loves sport
Sport is surging in September. Two AFL matches roared to over 1.4m giving Seven and TEN some big victories, notably helping the latter save face after an ordinary week. NRL topped 1m at Nine and also helped the network win Sunday. But while audiences fluctuate it was GO! that again got Nine across the line to win Week 38 -the second such glory in a row.
Nine finished with 28.9% ahead of Seven’s 27.5% and TEN’s 20.7%. The ABC had 17.7% and SBS 5.2%.
Nine won all key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.
GO! …
Nine wins the week
Having two and a half channels proved a winner for Nine in Week 37. Seven’s lack of a digital channel lost it the week by the slimmest of margins to Nine -just 0.2%. The extra share from GO!, which is added to Nine’s primary share, helped it win a week in which its biggest audience was 1.33m, a far cry from figures on Seven.
Nine won with 28.1% over Seven’s 27.9% and TEN’s 20.8%. The ABC had 17.3% and SBS 5.8%.
Nine won all three demo groups 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54. In Total …
Murder’s hit on commercial networks
Renewed and emerging hits were evident on the box last week as networks prepare to unveil fresh titles upon us once more. The biggest in the bunch was ABC’s Midsomer Murders which increased its lead to 1.48m and showed commercial networks how to win a traditional Sunday audience. Nine appears to have timed it right with Money for Jam nabbing 1.32m and the AFL passed 1.1m for TEN and 1m viewers for Seven.
But in Week 36 once again Seven won Total People with 27.8% just ahead of Nine’s 27.3% and TEN’s …
Perfect couple. Perfect silence.
On Wednesday night Nine dubbed Gemma and Raf Australia’s Perfect Couple, giving them a cool $210,000 for their efforts.
On Thursday you could have heard a pin drop.
For the second time this year a reality grand final on Nine was almost universally ignored -not just by media, but by the network itself.
It is customary with most big TV finales to issue a Press Release to media, talking up the fact that the network has just ‘changed somebody’s life’ with a big injection of cash accompanied with lots of lovely adjectives. Usually there …
Farmer wants an accurate promo
“Tonight, the favourites hit the farms, and the outback will never be the same. The girls will experience both the beautiful and the ugly sides of farm life. But in a few days one will be sent home. And a secret is about to bring one farmer’s world crashing down.”
And as Natalie Gruzlewski foretold of a farmer’s world “crashing down” on last night’s episode of The Farmer Wants a Wife, we saw guarded footage of somebody packing her bags, followed by a car driving away from Farmer Nate.
It looked like somebody …
Seven swims through topsy turvy week
It was a topsy turvy week of ratings in Week 33. While Nine had one night rising past the 30% share, TEN had another that sank below 15%. And the ABC has a new hit on its hands. That left Seven to remain steady through it all and win another week.
Seven finished with 28.0% over Nine’s 26.3% and TEN’s 21.6%. The ABC had 17.5% and SBS 6.6%.
But it was actually Nine that won 18-49 and 25-54 demos while TEN took out 16-39.
Seven won Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Nine won …
Rinse and repeat
We have a whole lot more repeating going on lately, and it’s not just TV Burp we’re talking about.
Nope, it’s new Aussie shows that are getting the replay treatment, or as they like to call it, an ‘Encore.’ Of course, the term ‘encore’ actually applies to an audience actually asking for more, so again, we’ll just stick with the word ‘repeat.’
Nine is repeating the second ep of Rescue: Special Ops just as it did for the first, plus The Farmer Wants a Wife:
