triple j with the doctor ending
ABC series triple j with the doctor is finishing after four seasons.
The youth show hosted by triple j radio presenter The Doctor (Lindsay McDougall) aired its last ever episode on Monday night on ABC2.
The sometimes-irreverent show included interviews, comedy, music performances, segments from Sam Simmons (The Urban Monkey with Murray Foote) and radio shows including Hack and behind the scenes footage from radio shows.
The Doctor hosted the show linking together various elements of the show. The episode which aired on Monday only indicated a 2009 final, not the end of the …
2009 Walkley Awards: nominees
UPDATED: The ABC and the Seven Network dominate the television nominees in the 2009 Walkley Awards.
The ABC and Seven lead the pack with SBS and Nine also nominated. Sky News received a commendation.
Amongst the television nominees for the country’s annual journalism awards are the controversial Four Corners report on sex in sport, which led to Nine standing down NRL commentator Matthew Johns. A Current Affair’s Tracy Grimshaw is nominated for her interviews with Johns, Nick D’Arcy and Simon Cowley.
Seven’s new Sunday Night also lands two nominations and the ABC’s Hack Half …
A chorus of opinions
This week SBS’ long running forum show Insight travelled to Melbourne to discuss a topical subject inviting a broad range of opinions. In the old Pumphouse building at Scienceworks, Spotswood, SBS staged a live to air outside broadcast on the topic of bushfires, climate change and the danger zone.
TV Tonight was there as gale force winds were howling down on the city, ironically reminding the 54 audience guests of the force of nature. Many of them, survivors of the Black Saturday bushfires, needed no reminding. The wind grew so loud it …
Auditions: Project NEXT
Andrew Denton and the ABC have finally released more details of their obscurely worded Project NEXT -and it sounds very tasty indeed.
In a nutshell, Denton is looking for “the next generation” of Australian broadcasters, in both on-air and off-air talent.
Leaning heavily (though not exclusively) towards documentary, factual, news and current affairs, the hunt is on for people aged 18-30 to work as reporters, producers, camera/directors, editors, graphic artists, researchers and web content producers.
God bless Denton. Who else would have the foresight and might to make something like this happen? He has …
The Hack Half Hour
Now this is way cool. ABC2 is bringing its triple j youth forum The Hack Half Hour to television.
Previously airing in 8 minute instalments on radio, now it is opened up for the small screen -and it works a treat.
Hosted by Walkley awardâwinning journalist Steve Cannane, the forum consists of about twenty or so (mostly) youth to discuss relevant and contemporary topics in a relaxed atmosphere. Sound like Insight for the Facebook generation? It is. In fact the first topic for discussion is social networking and the benefits and risks of …
