The Don’s hit list

In the last two years actor Don Hany has appeared in a string of television’s most credible projects: East West 101, False Witness, Underbelly, Dirt Game, Chandon Pictures, The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce and Rush.

Next up he will appear in both Legend of the Seeker, which begins on FOX8 this Sunday, and TEN’s 2010 telemovie Offpsring.

No less than five projects he has been involved with are up for AFI Awards next month (although Hany appeared in Underbelly’s first season).

Hany is also nominated for a Lead Actor award for East West …

IF Awards: Red Carpet / Winners

Spoilers: Sydney’s Luna Park turned it on for the 11th annual Kodak Inside Film Awards last night, on a warm spring night against the glorious backdrop of the harbour. There were plenty of television stars in attendance, and two TV titles even walked away with a prize.

Next week ABC features the first of a 2 part historic docudrama that looks at colonial Australia.

Respected actors including John Wood, Peter O’Brien, Leanna Walsman, Geoff Morrell, Les Hill and Heather Mitchell as characters in a fledgling colony while the Rum Rebellion takes hold. They will play well known historic figures including pastoralist John Macarthur, barrister and newspaper proprietor William Wentworth, and Governors William Bligh, Lachlan Macquarie and Ralph Darling.

Historian Michael Cathcart will serve as an escort through this living re-creation, elaborating on facts and information.

Airdate: The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce

There’s quite a cast assembled for this factual dramatisation of the final days of Irish convict Alexander Pearce in 1822.

It’s an unbelievable tale of convicts and cannibalisation, made as a co-production by the ABC TV, BBC and Ireland’s RTE.

The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce includes Irish actors Adrian Dunbar and Ciarán McMenamin plus Dan Wyllie, Chris Haywood, Don Hany, Bob Franklin and Martin Jacobs.

It screens 8:35pm Sunday, 25 January on ABC1.
