First quarter broken promises

There is just one week to go before we move into the second quarter of 2009.

Late last year, the Nine Network told its advertisers that a raft of new shows would air in the first quarter of 2009. But a number of the titles on the list still remain unaired.

Gathering dust on the Nine shelves, and promised for the first quarter, are:

Sea Patrol
Crusoe
Local Heroes
For Richer for Poorer
What’s Good For You
Who Do You Think You Are? (US)
When I Grow Up
Without a Trace

This mirrors a similar list at the end of 2007 …

Nine’s “first quarter” in ‘09

Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities, Wipeout Australia, Aussie Ladette to Lady, Sea Patrol, Flashpoint, Crusoe (pictured) and Local Heroes are some of the shows Nine intends to air in the ‘first quarter’ of 2009.

Also due early in the new television year are the Jules Lund-hosted For Richer For Poorer, which seeks to find the perfectly wedded couple. Amongst the contestants on this show are a gay male couple.

What’s Good For You is back, now with new host Dr Andrew Rochford (The Waiting Room).

Nine’s summer of Gossip

Gossip Girl, Pushing Daisies, Survivor: Gabon, Temptation, Fringe, ER, McLeod’s Daughters -are all coming to Channel Nine over summer.

Gossip Girl, the teen soap set in affluent Manhattan high school circles, has been screening on FOX8 (Pay TV has season two from December) but finally gets a Free to Air screening. Nine, which on-sold the rights to FOX8, will start with Series One. It is the second time the network on-sold a series by writer / producer Josh Schwartz, after it let TEN take The OC.
