Nine uncovers new Sherlock series
Channel Nine has picked up Sherlock, the new British miniseries being developed by Doctor Who writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch (pictured, Hawking, The Last Enemy, Tipping the Velvet) in the title role of Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman (The Office, Love, Actually) as Doctor John Watson, the 3 x 90 series is a re-imagining of the classic Sherlock Holmes tale set in modern day London. It also features Rupert Graves (Wallander, Waking the Dead, Ashes to Ashes).

Seven summer update
Seven has updated its first week of summer programming, filling in several TBAs and shuffling a few shows around.
New titles include Stephen Fry in Kingdom as a kindly solicitor who devotes his career to representing the oddball people in the Norfolk town of Market Shipborough, England. Kenneth Brannagh stars as Inspector Kurt Wallander, a brilliant detective who takes each murder case he works on personally and will stop at nothing in his search for the truth. Parks and Recreation for Seven’s summer
Channel Seven has unveiled some of its summer programming, but kept its surprises under wraps.
It will premiere new US comedy Parks and Recreation, the mockumentary that replaced Kath & Kim (US). Written by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur it features Amy Poehler as the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana.
There are new episodes of Band of Brothers, Gary Unmarried, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
In repeat are How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Better Homes and Gardens.

BAFTAs 2009: TV Winners
The Bill has won BAFTA’s Continuing Drama award at a star-studded ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall, just after it had been cut back to once a week by ITV.
One show source said: “It is pretty embarrassing to axe something that seems to be performing at its peak.
“Some of the stars that helped win this BAFTA will be sacked soon.”
It was a first win for The Bill in its 25-year history in the category, beating Casualty, EastEnders and Emmerdale.
