More closed captions on Foxtel

Foxtel ups the closed captions to its On Demand movie services for deaf and hearing-impaired viewers.

2013-10-25_1100Foxtel has now commenced closed captioning of selected On Demand movie services for deaf and hearing-impaired viewers.

The Subscription TV provider indicates it now captions the vast majority of new release movies aired across their On Demand movie channels, and captions around half of the free on demand content access via the ‘Featured’ section of iQ and My Star boxes.

Foxtel’s Group Director – Corporate Affairs, Bruce Meagher, said “Foxtel is committed to innovations which increase the accessibility and choice of content for our customers – especially for the one in six Australians who are deaf or hearing impaired”.

Last financial year Foxtel broadcast 480,000 hours of captioned content to its 2.5 million subscriber homes.

Foxtel also sponsors tonight’s Deafness Forum Captioning Awards being held in Sydney for the sixth year running.
