    Hold on a minute, i thought seven had the nbc deal, whats going on, i thought lipstick jungle and bionic woman would go to seven due to the NBC output deal. I do know they have these shows:

    * Private Practice
    * Dirty, Sexy, Money
    * Eli Stone
    * Sam I Am
    * Carpoolers
    * Cavemen

  2. David Knox on May 17th, 2007 4:06 pm

    Seven has a deal with Disney and a “half-deal” with NBC Universal.

  3. Anonymous on May 17th, 2007 4:53 pm

    David could you explain how the Seven/Ten deal with NBC Universal actually works, who gets what?

  4. Anonymous on May 18th, 2007 12:22 pm

    Channel 9 should give Gossip Girl to TEN like they’ve done with other ‘teen’ shows.

  5. Anonymous on May 18th, 2007 5:52 pm

    Looks like 9 and 10 making off with all the hits. And as for Gossip Girl 9 will try it out first and if it’s a hit keep it of course. Pretty silly to help out a rival network unless ten trades House for it!

  6. David Knox on May 18th, 2007 6:41 pm

    Seven will still get stuff, but maybe not the biggies that DH, Lost, Betty and Greys have been.

  7. Anonymous on May 18th, 2007 7:04 pm

    According to the deals seven should get the following shows from the US

    The guaranteed hit - Private Practice (ABC TV Studio)
    Dirty, Sexy, Money (ABC TV Studio)
    Eli Stone (ABC TV Studio)
    Sam I Am (ABC TV Studio)
    Carpoolers (ABC TV Studio)
    Cavemen (ABC TV Studio)
    Cane (CBS Par TV; ABC Studios)
    The Reaper (ABC TV Studio)

    Plus because of the NBC deal seven could get these shows even though you have said that Ten have some of them
    Life (NBC Universal TV Studio)
    Lipstick Jungle (NBC Universal TV Studio)
    The Bionic Woman (NBC Universal TV Studio)
    The IT Crowd (NBC U TV)
    Aliens in America (NBC U TV)
    Kath and Kim* (NBC U TV)
    *According to the source Kath and Kim will be on in the Summer Schedule in the States

  8. Anonymous on May 24th, 2007 3:44 pm

    Action News and Back To You are the same show. (Action News was the working title.)

  9. Anonymous on July 7th, 2007 2:20 pm

    what channel has the show 30 Rock?

  10. Anonymous on July 8th, 2007 1:24 pm

    30 Rock will be on Seven.
    Also news in today’s Sunday Telegraph in Sydney has confirmed that The Seven Network has picked up Lipstick Jungle and The Bionic Woman. No word on The IT Crowd

  11. Anonymous on August 18th, 2007 6:31 pm

    what does Gossip girl [on sold to Foxtel] mean?
    and is Hidden Palms definitely confirmed for channel nine?

  12. David Knox on August 18th, 2007 8:50 pm

    Just as Nine bought The OC and West Wing which they later re-sold to other networks, so too they have decided Gossip Girl doesn’t fit with them.

    Hidden Palms died in the US so don’t expect Nine to follow through on screening their rights to it.

  13. Anonymous on August 20th, 2007 7:31 pm

    So does that mean to watch Gossip Girl we have to have Foxtel???
    I dont have foxtel!
    And I was really looking forward to seeing Hidden Palms :( too bad
    I heard it did really badly in the US and got cancelled after 8 episodes.
    The guy was hot though..

  14. Anonymous on August 25th, 2007 8:56 pm

    gossip girl (on sold foxtel) i’m pretty sure that it means that if u have foxtel u will be able to watch it problt are 2 weeks after it starts in the us coz my friend has foxtel and she said she has seen commercials of gossip girl staring on fox 8.
    But i rekon if channel nine keeps it than it won’t last 4 long so they are probly gonna give it to channel ten. it’s kinda like one tree hill i mean thats still showing in the US but we only got to watch one season of it and there up to there fifth season. so if it get’s canceld her for being put on a shity channel then im gonna be SOOO PISSED coz it loos soo good!!

  15. Anonymous on September 25th, 2007 7:56 pm

    what are the odds of ten (or seven) getting the rights for Gossip Girl once foxtel has screened them, maybe for next year sometime? Now that Nine’s passed it on.

  16. Mallie on October 11th, 2007 12:04 am

    Anonymous - even more pertinent question - now that Gossip Girl’s been picked up for a full season, is Nine likely to reclaim it?

  17. Anonymous on November 6th, 2007 4:13 pm

    LOVE IT

    Well done to channel 9 for picking up Big Shots. Ive seen the first few episodes and this is gonna be a hit with the men and women. I just hope that channel 9 do justice for this fab show.

    Honestly though any tv show that brings the OHH SO SEXY Michael Vartan back to our weekly viewing is gonna be a hit with me… mmm yum

  18. Anonymous on December 9th, 2007 10:42 am

    Will October Road be shown next year?

  19. David Knox on December 9th, 2007 11:54 am

    To paraphrase Mr O’Keefe, it’s not on the list.

  20. amir on December 9th, 2007 10:09 pm

    david, do you know if gossip girl will be going to free-to-air tv? or just foxtel?

  21. David Knox on December 9th, 2007 10:19 pm

    At this stage just Foxtel. If it continues to boom there may be re-sale rights but my understanding is it was Nine that let Fox8 buy it from them in the first place, meaning they may not have the rights to sell it further.

  22. Daniel... whatsonthetube.net on December 10th, 2007 6:27 pm

    Hi David,
    I’ve been invited into the audience of a show for Nine being sold as “It’s Australia’s first reality sitcom… with a surprising twist!” Do you know anything about this show as in what the title is and what the show is about etc…
    Much appreciated.

  23. David Knox on December 10th, 2007 6:33 pm

    Cool. It’s an unnamed project by Julian Cress and David Barbour, the guys behind The Block. It will be Nine’s pitch at their very own Thank God. It definitely has improv elements and possibly audience voting components (just a hunch). Could be huge.

    Out of curiosity, what date and which city?

  24. Daniel... whatsonthetube.net on December 10th, 2007 6:37 pm

    is sam i am confirmed for seven??

  26. David Knox on December 13th, 2007 1:42 pm

    Nope.

  27. Anonymous on December 28th, 2007 7:06 pm

    hey dave, are you able to find out if bones will be aired during the year on 7?
    cheers

  28. David Knox on December 28th, 2007 7:30 pm

    Not yet no.

    I’m told Seven is to do a programme launch in the new year. I suspect any chance rests with how it performs over summer. It’s doing ok so far, and may just build.

  29. greysfan on January 3rd, 2008 9:47 am

    Sam I Am was the former Name to Samantha Who? I checked on several websites and they all quote this. Thought i would let you know.

    Here is a quote from Wikipedia

    “The show was originally named Sam I Am until ABC renamed it Samantha Be Good due to conflicts with the estate of Dr. Seuss. TV Guide later reported that ABC had changed the title of the series once more to Samantha Who?”

  30. Anonymous on January 15th, 2008 5:51 pm

    No ER or Desperate Housewives? Or is it just because of the writer’s strike?

    I know ER has started screening season 14 in the US…

  31. David Knox on January 15th, 2008 6:15 pm

    This section logs confirmed shows. Seven is yet to put out its 2008 slate. Ten dozen DH eps have aired in the US.

    ER isn’t confirmed by Nine.

  32. Anonymous on January 15th, 2008 8:06 pm

    I forgot to post in here a few weeks ago, but TV Week said something along the lines of “Don’t worry if you don’t have Foxtel, Gossip Girl will be screening on Nine in the second half of 2008″ in an article about the show.

  33. Anonymous on January 17th, 2008 10:23 am

    Does anyone know who has the rights to the show Friday Night Lights or if they have seen it and if so is it good?

  34. Ron on January 19th, 2008 12:26 pm

    So David, what’s happening to those unaired shows promised in 2007 by ABC,
    * Double the Fist
    * Stuff
    * Lightning City

    will they be shown in 08 or what?
    Thanks David, your blog is the best. blog. ever.

  35. David Knox on January 19th, 2008 12:49 pm

    Thanks Ron. Really not sure.

    Double the Fist has finished production so I fully expect it to settle into the Chaser timeslot.

  36. Anonymous on January 24th, 2008 11:58 am

    Ten has Friday Night Lights. The rumours have it that it looks like it might end up on only TEN-HD which i hope doesnt happen. I am a fan of it and would love to see it here.

  37. Leon on April 29th, 2008 10:05 pm

    Does anyone know what happened to the show Caine starring Jimmy Smitt? It was on one of the commercial channels
    earlier this year then disapeared.

  38. David Knox on April 29th, 2008 11:15 pm

    Cane didn’t get big audiences so it was removed by TEN, then re-appeared on TEN HD. The IPL Cricket has effectively pushed it off the HD schedule for now. We wait and see if it returns. Only 13 eps were made before the writers strike hit. No clear word on its future.

  39. RichoTB on May 8th, 2008 10:46 pm

    Ugly Betty and The Simpsons are back on air now, along with those Fire 000 and Search & Rescue shows. The only shows on this list I’m looking forward to seeing premiere are Eli Stone (the 1st ep was like a spinoff of Boston Legal more than anything else, although not as good. It was still enjoyable), Girlicious, Unhitched, and perhaps Pushing Daisies when it comes on. I didn’t like the 1st ep of PD but it might be worth catching another 1 or 2 episodes to see if it gets any better.

  40. JJ on May 9th, 2008 9:43 am

    Will The IT Crowd Going To Channel 7/Prime Instead Of ABC1/ABC2

  41. RichoTB on May 11th, 2008 10:49 am

    No, The IT Crowd is airing now on ABC. There was an American remake of the show, and a pilot was made, but it never got picked up for a full season. Seven apparently bought the rights to the series (the American version) before it got canned. The IT Crowd (UK) should continue to run on ABC

  42. RichoTB on May 11th, 2008 10:57 am

    Wait, I just realised that this 2008 Show Watch article was made almost a year ago. With all the upfront presentations finishing by May 16 in the US, will there be a 2009 show watch page created around then? Or will all the new shows that Aussie FTA networks pick up just be added to the 2008 page?

  43. David Knox on May 11th, 2008 11:20 am

    Yes a 2009 Show Watch once we start seeing where they land.

    IT Crowd (US) was always unconfirmed and we can see why.

  44. RichoTB on May 12th, 2008 4:10 pm

    I see. On a side note, Ten and Nine’s new shows have been bombing spectacularly this yr. On Ten, there was Cane and Journeyman and Psych and Women’s Murder Club, all of which were axed fairly quickly (excluding WMC, but it wasn’t exactly the “best new show” of the season as they advertised it to be). From what I saw Burn Notice was an enjoyable show and Life was spectacular. To their credit, Nine tried something different with aquiring more youth based-shows this season, although pretty much all of them have been axed (Cashmere Mafia, Big Shots, Jezebel James, Hidden Palms, New Amsterdam, Canterbury’s Law) and Terminator was shafted to a late night slot after like 3 episodes. Seven bombed with Bionic Woman and their ABC comedies, although that was a while ago now. Nine still have Chuck and Pushing Daisies up their sleeves though, which will probably be huge ratings grabbers for them. Seven also has Eli Stone which is an enjoyable show, although it hasn’t been renewed for a season 2 yet.

  45. Leon on May 13th, 2008 2:27 pm

    Hi,
    I was wondering if someone could tell me if Dirty Sexy Money, Life, Burn Notice, Prison Break, Jerico, Biotic Women, and Hero’s will be coming back
    to free to air stations. Sorry if some of these have be asked before, but I am new to this and not sure where I can find out this kind of information. Leon

  46. David Knox on May 13th, 2008 2:35 pm

    Dirty Sexy Money maybe later in the year.

    Life sometime this year yes.

    Burn Notice maybe HD if you are lucky.

    Prison Break later in the year yes.

    Jericho HD if you are lucky, all eps airing on SciFi too. Now axed in the US.

    Bionic Women, no axed.

    Heroes later in the year yes.

  47. RichoTB on May 16th, 2008 5:01 pm

    How long until the Aussie FTA networks announce which new series they’ve picked up??

  48. Adelaide teens add me im 17 on June 1st, 2008 7:24 pm

    Do you know when Californication & new episods or the Futer lengh movies Futurama are coming back to Ten

  49. David Knox on June 1st, 2008 7:34 pm

    Californication S2 hasn’t even aired in the US yet, so it’s a long way off.

    No word on any new Futurama.

  50. Adelaide teens add me im 17 on June 2nd, 2008 8:16 pm

    When is Hunted coming to Chenel 9 also do you know if any of the free to air Networks are going to show any
    upcoming Disater or Sci Fi movies or min seres

  51. David Knox on June 2nd, 2008 9:01 pm

    TEN HD has sci fi night back on Thursdays with new Jericho eps.

    Generally speaking, networks send out info for about 2-3 weeks ahead of what’s screening. As readers of this site know, for big new premieres I always post news stories.

    If you aren’t sure if you have missed news on a show there is also a search function on this site.

  52. RichoTB on June 3rd, 2008 3:53 pm

    Cavemen premiered already so you might want to take that off Seven’s list. The only shows on this list I want to see are Eli Stone, Secret Diary of a Call Girl and the new Pussycat Dolls season. The pilot of Eli Stone was well-executed. Its just a matter of whether or not Seven will air it.

  53. Adelaide teens add me im 17 on June 4th, 2008 6:58 pm

    Do you know when dancing with the stars are coming back to network seven also do you know who will host the show

  54. AJ on July 1st, 2008 9:41 pm

    when is eli stone coming

  55. David Knox on July 2nd, 2008 11:08 am

    Sadly no word on Eli as yet.

    Dancing should return after Olympics. Shane Bourne was last mentioned as possible host, but not confirmed.

  56. Rus92 on July 12th, 2008 11:38 am

    i think we know that at least half of nines promised line up are gonna fail, along the same lines as power of ten, monster house, million dollar wheel

  57. RichoTB on July 14th, 2008 10:07 pm

    Maybe you should add My Own Worst Enemy, Knight Rider, and all those Aussie factual shows to Seven’s list as they said they’d air them this year here: http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2008/07/seven-unwraps-second-half-slate.html

    On an unrelated note, its good to finally have some official confirmation that Eli Stone will be aired sometime this year.

  58. David Knox on July 14th, 2008 10:28 pm

    Done.

  59. RichoTB on July 23rd, 2008 9:33 pm

    Good stuff. Don’t forget the Aussie Wipeout, The Mentalist and Battlefronts that Nine promised in their latest press release. I’m excited for TV in September, with Eli Stone, Knight Rider, My Own Worst Enemy, Life and Australian Idol premiering.

Got something to say?
