Aussie Idol, who’s going?

Now the first live sing-off of Australian Idol is underway, give us your thoughts.

Who do you think will be first eliminated? What performance was a hit? How about the judges?

And any tips on the ratings figures for Monday?

  1. Either Marty or Holly….both chose lame songs, and then went on to sing them quite badly….n while i think Daniel kicks ass,he sucked pretty bad last nite…though i dont believe he deserves to go

I thought that Matt,Natalie,Ben & Jacob were awesome, while Tarisai was clearly the best

  2. Oh it’s GOT to be Carl Riseley that gets the first elimination. Quite aside from the fact that it’s a mystery why he’s even gotten this far in the first place with the tired old swing schtick, that “performance” was an embarrasment worthy of the halcyon days of the Mike Walsh Show. Absolutely abominable, cringe-inducing to watch, and to make matters worse, tail-ended by three out of four judges doing passable John Howard impersonations. Vile. Ironically, only Sandilands had the balls to actually call it like it was. Note to judges: stop with the over-use of the phrase “what you bring to this contest”. What you REALLY mean is “you’re bollocks but you get people talking”, surely?

As for the best, that was easily Matt, who’s almost guaranteed to win as (a) he’s visually tailor-made for the Idol audience and (b) he’s actually talented (gasp!)

Myself, I’m still hoping for good things from Natalie Gauchi (and hey, her family owns the Golden Tower in Swanston St? I’ve supported her career already and didn’t even know! :), but her Powderfinger thing left me flat this week. I suspect this is a woman who’s better left to do her original songs. Ditto Brianna, who should have known better than to try a song that old folks would hate her for massacring and young folks would only know as “the theme from Big Love” 🙂

As always, the “rock guys” will be picked off one by one, and good riddance to them. Nothing personal, but when one of them described pub rock as “unpredictable” I was in fits of laughter.

  3. Matt Corby was the best of the bunch. Judge Kyle was a bit rough tonight! Ratings will probably be lower than previous years with strong ratings from Seven’s Border Security
