Eurovision: Pure pop

Who knew Dannii was moonlighting in the Czech Republic?

“Have Some Fun” by Tereza Kerndlova sure seems like something she would have rejected for an album (Dannii’s dance tracks are way cooler). The first Eurovision semi final takes place on Wednesday morning AEST.

Here once again are a number of the contenders, this time looking at some of those pitching themselves as three minutes of absolute pop.

Belarus: “Hasta La Vista” Ruslan Ahleno

UK: “Even If” Andy Abraham.

Denmark: “All Night Long” Simon Mathew

Germany: “Disappear” No Angels

Iceland: “This is my Life” Euroband

  1. good on you jack, glad im not the only one anticipating a Eurovision ‘hang over’ on Monday and taking the day off work..only one more sleep..yay!

  2. What a weekend we will be having with THREE nights of Eurovision in a row! i even had to take Monday off work so I could enjoy the entire show on Sunday … and probably end up annoyed by who eventually wins …
I want Charlotte Pirrelli to win for Sweden with Hero!!!
    Jack!

  3. The Russian entry this year is produced by Timbaland apparently and its hot favourite! with all the ‘bloc’ voting that goes on its really hard to pick a winner..Sweden is always a chance, their entrant this year won it for them in 1999 and there is that pesky Irish puppett! I cant wait..its one of the highlights of my year..I love it!

  4. I’ve really been getting into ‘All Night Long’ over the last week, but surely it’s time for one of the Big Four to take it out. ‘Disappear’ is OK, but not great and Spain’s entry is utterly heinous,

This leaves only France (whose song sounds fantastic, but I don’t know how it will go down in front of an audience) and the UK with their strongest entry in many a long year. I’m not sure there’s much chance there, either, since they’ve done bugger-all promotion around Europe.

But then, knowing the bizarre track record the ESC’s had over the last couple of years, it’ll probably be Spain, after all.
