Not on the list

Seven’s surprise move in programming The Rich List on Saturday nights has backfired, after the show was fourth in its timeslot.

The Rich List slumped in with 729,000 viewers behind Bed of Roses (970,000), Bring It On (825,000) and Saturday Night AFL (806,000). Even Gardening Australia got a better figure.

As a result Seven landed an embarrassing fourth for the evening behind the ABC, a figure that denied them any hope of catching Nine for the week.

Seven has sought to remake its Saturdays lately but Michael Palin’s New Europe also flopped, with viewers sticking to the ABC.

Last year Rich List was a reliable Monday show for Seven attracting around 1.2 – 1,2m viewers.

Don’t be surprised if on Monday the network decides it is “off the list” when it comes to Saturdays.

SBS’ Eurovision Song Contest 2008 had 421,000.

  1. That’s half a million viewers gone…did not see that one coming. I thought it would rate higher. To be fair, this show was axed on FOX after only 1 ep, so to do as well as it has is commendable.

  2. Well it was a pretty silly move by seven to put it on a Saturday night if they want the ratings to improve then it should be on another night

  3. It was on the wrong night to start with… Prehaps SEVEN should’ve held off and maybe launched it on a Sunday night at 6.30 when Gladiators is finished!

  4. unfortunately the raings for the rich list will surely stop any network from giving us something different on saturday nights.

back to movies we’ve already seen and britcoms we wish we hadn’t i guess…

  5. I’m guessing that the Seven Network has underestimated the demographic groups of people who watch this show. Rating consistantly around 1.1 – 1.3 million on Monday nights, the types of people who watch the show (including myself last year) were actually home to watch it. They are all out partying. Stick it back on Monday nights ASAP, which they should have done at the start of the year. Move the factual series’ to another night. I suggest Wednesday as it is currently the deadest night for Australian television, when last year it was the best.
