TV star in abuse complaint

An “internationally known showbusiness personality” has been accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy, according to the Herald Sun.

The man, said to appear on Australian TV, has been named in a crimes compensation claim.

The sexual assaults detailed in the claim are alleged to have occurred almost 40 years ago. The claimant is now in his early 50s and lives in Melbourne. His alleged assailant is now in his 60s.

A crimes compensation claim was listed before the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal sitting at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court last week.

The alleged victim has been interviewed by police and complained of a range of sexual behaviour over an extended period.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said yesterday police could not confirm the identity of any person involved for privacy reasons. “There is no current, active investigation,” the spokeswoman said.

The accused man refused to comment when contacted yesterday by the Herald Sun.

Lawyers for the alleged victim also refused to discuss the case.

  1. At lot of the reasons are that the full effects of the abuse do not come to fruition till years even decades later. Nearly everyone’s ideals, behavior and choices are linked to those crucial early years of life.
Also, even if its 4 years ago or 40, people like this can’t get away with it.

  2. I wonder what it takes somebody to lodge a complaint 40 years later. Financial difficulties?
Surely that person wasn’t in a coma or having an amnesia for that long.
