Christina Applegate battling breast cancer

At only 36 years old Christina Applegate, best known for her roles in Samantha Who? and Married with Children, is reportedly undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

A statement for the actress released through television news magazine Extra said: “Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer.

“Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.”

Applegate is also still overcoming the death of her boyfriend in early July.

She is among the celebrities scheduled to appear on the Stand Up To Cancer one-hour television special to be aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on Sept. 5 to raise funds for cancer research. Applegate has earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role in Samantha Who? and an Emmy win for her portrayal of the younger sister of Jennifer Aniston’s character on Friends.

Kylie Minogue was also 36 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
