IVF good news for Deborah

TEN Newsreader Deborah Knight has announced she is pregnant after repeated IVF attempts with her husband Lindsay Dunbar.

“It was the cliched emotional roller-coaster. Every time you do an IVF cycle there’s optimism or pessimism. Then if it doesn’t work there’s depression. I also had one miscarriage after six weeks,” Knight said.

“But then on our 11th attempt, finally, success. We’ve never been happier.”

Knight, 35, is sharing her story to give hope to other couples struggling against infertility and considering giving up.

“I just want to give some reassurance that it can actually work even if you are having failure after failure,” she said.

“For Lindsay and I it wasn’t an age thing. We are like 1per cent of the population in that we are unable to fall pregnant naturally. You want to be in the 1per cent bracket for other things but not incompatible fertility.”

Knight has co-anchored Channel TEN’s 5pm news bulletin with Ron Wilson since January 2006, following the departure of Jessica Rowe to Channel Nine.

“IVF is a godsend,” she said.
