Unless its a complete fake, the first episode of Dexter‘s third series appears to have been leaked online prior to its US screening.
Officially it doesn’t kick of on the Showtime channel in the US until September 28th.
The first episode of season two was also leaked online last year, along with the final 2 episodes.
Many observers note that the leaking of some shows to the internet is a deliberate marketing ploy, rather than a genuine cloak-and-dagger move.
Two series have already aired in Australia on Showcase while the first is currently airing on TEN.

For your information it WAS aired in parts of the US , I mentioned A friend, whereas in actual fact it was numerous, and it WAS on Showtime.

It was on Showtime early, they did not download it, it was SEASON 3.

I don’t care who you claim you’re friends are, or how you think the us tv system works, but NOWHERE in the us was dexter aired on showtime before the actual season premire date, period. Each state/city doesn’t have a different showtime channel like they do their local channels. Showtime has been showing season 2 for awhile on sundays so thats what you’re friend saw if it was on showtime. other then that it was downloaded or just a small preview clip.
Just finished watching season 2 and am absolutley hooked on this puppy. Since sopranos ended, I’ve found it hard to find something as good. Dexter has excellent stories, with a great cast of actors. Forget ch 10′s pathetic time slot…….dexter belongs on a weeknight.
The best part about the net is now I can watch tv when I feel like it and not have to wait for these so-called tv networks in australia to air it. Knowing channel 10, they’d probably swap episodes of dexter for 1000 crappy reality show ideas, lol.
Dexter Season 3 is already airing in parts of the US, it’s not a “leak” . I have a friend in US who watched it on Showtime over a week ago. Dexter rulez!!!

Just watched the new episode, and its great to see Dexter back.
Looks like the writers have more great plot-lines in store for us.
It looks to me like it could be either a deliberate leak, or a press/publicity screener.
High quality, with full titles and Showtime tags at the start and finish that usually don’t run on air.
Dexter is my favourate show, don’t have pay tv but own the first two series on dvd. Think I will break the law and download them as soon as I can, I’ll be too old before channel ten screens it lol
Fred – There were reports Showcase is fasttracking Dexer in October, don’t know if this has been confirmed or the dates yet.

It was a good episode but I think I was spoiled by the spoiler leaks.
Could this have been on purpose? Wasn’t Season 2 leaked as well? I don’t think it will hurt the show but will add to its hype.
