Renewed: Smallville, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural, ANTM, One Tree Hill

By David Knox on February 25, 2009 / Filed Under News 22

gossip-girl731A report today indicates that the CW Network has given the go-ahead for further seasons of several long running series.

Smallville, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural, America’s Next Top Model and One Tree Hill are all moving forward.

While the solid ratings for all six shows maderenewals likely, they were not all foregone conclusions.

In the case of Smallville, producer Warner Bros. Television had been negotiating with series star Tom Welling to return. The CW’s renewal indicates the studio was probably successful.

The approvals are also likely to quell speculation that the network itself has been on shaky ground.

Nevertheless, while it struggled on TEN, 90210 has remained healthy in the US and hot show Gossip Girl plus One Tree Hill have performed on Monday nights. The CW also has had success building its brand with younger female viewers.

Elsewhere, CW has its Melrose revival and Gossip Girl spin-off, Lily, in development.

Sorry RichoTB you have not watched Supernatural since the end of Season 2…you have missed some great action in the current season 4….
Sometimes it is worth checking in from time to time on a series again..

I used to enjoy Smallville, but unlike superman, it moved ever so slowly in story development, i had always feared it would get canned before Clarke got to fly for real… but having said that he may have flown now, as I havent watched it for a couple years….

I’m not surprised Smallville has been renewed, the current season (8) is amazing, Supernatural continues to suprise its fans, as for the other wishy washy stuff, it’s good that the CW is persisting but they aren’t my sort of viewing

Not surprised about any of these. I stopped watching Smallville after season 7, they dragged it out for way too long, similar to Supernatural which got lame after they defeated the Yellow-Eyed demon in season 2. Gossip Girl is pretty good although I’ve only season a few episodes, and I’m surprised One Tree Hill is still going, to me its a poor man’s OC. As for ATNM, bleh, why would you want to watch that? Never bothered with 90210
