LifeStyle Food rebrands

lsc_off_logo_rhubarbThe LifeStyle FOOD Channel will reveal a new look on April 1st.

The 24‐hour food channel will brand with new channel imagery, on air graphics and channel identity spots.

“There are two types of LifeStyle FOOD viewers – the creatives and the nurturers – and we feel this rebrand represents both,” said Nicole Sheffield, General Manager, LifeStyle FOOD.

“Our incredibly successful celebrity chefs now share the Channel with our huge demand for competition cooking and popularity of our everyday food. I’m delighted with the new look and feel as it totally reflects the growth and demand for food content that we are experiencing.”

The main new graphic element for the channel is the circle, drawing upon plates, bowls, cooktops, pots and pans.

The circular shape will be a theme throughout the on‐air graphics, used to contain program information on base templates, and in on‐air promotional photography. The new channel identity spots reflect three core programming pillars: Celebrity Chefs, Competition Cooking and Everyday Meals.

The refresh will coincide with the launch of a new red button application Battle of the Superstar Chefs. By pressing the red button during 7.30pm and 9.30pm from April 13 – 23, viewers can choose food shows from Jamie, Nigella, Bill, Gordon and Heston.

The problem with the red button marathons is there is no way to fast forward these shows. If you want to watch Masterchef but have seen half of them then you need to know exactly what times these red button shows are on so you can catch them. seems pointless to me. Would have been better using the on-demand option.

The word “channel” seems pointless/superfluous. Not sure what the point was in the change.

It looks like the ‘Food Network’ logo in the US.
