If you are one of 7500 who applied for MasterChef Australia and didn’t get through, the Daily Telegraph today has a glimpse of what one auditionee went through -writer Grant Jones.
Of the Sydney auditions, Jones writes:
As one of a group of six, I presented my dish at the end of a long, boring day.
Marshalled into a room with our plates, I had a secret weapon. Figuring presentation was key, I presented my dish with silverware and a table setting. Fellow contestants muttered under their breath.
Chosen to move on to the next level, I had to present a different version of the same dish to another panel – senior producers who grilled me about cooking, kitchen skills and the possibility of being away from my family as the show requires contestants to be locked away in a house for the duration of the program. I was having second thoughts.
Told I would be called if I made it through to the next day, I went home and cooked dinner, good old spag bol. Time for a glass of wine. No call at 9.30pm. Another glass of wine. No call 10.30pm. At 10.45pm the phone rang.
