Kids’ series to Rock It! through Asia

The youthful producer / performers of Rock It! have stitched up sales of their kids' series throughout Asia.

rock-it1Local kids’ series Rock It!, developed and produced by its youthful stars Dina McPherson and Gian Christian, will begin airing on networks throughout Asia, beginning with Singapore’s number 1 children’s TV channel OKTO from October.

Its combination of early learning curriculum mixed with fantastical characters, colourful costumes, puppets, pop music and dance has resonated with Asian networks.

“The positive broadcaster response to Rock It! in the Asian region has been a lovely surprise, with interest in future series even before the current series has aired,” series creator Dina McPherson told TV Tonight.

Producer, Gian Christian said, “Australia has such a fantastic reputation globally for producing high quality children’s entertainment… We’re a nation of great storytellers and its clear Aussies create parent friendly shows that kids love to watch.

“We really have The Wiggles to thank for opening the eyes of the international broadcasters to our Australian voice.”

As well as broadcasting, the series is set for licensing and merchandising deals across Asia plus a planned live concert tour in 2010.

McPherson and Christian, whose production company Galaxy Pop produced the series for Channel TEN in 2007, have already performed over 2000 live concerts in Australia.

The series follows the adventures of three friends, Comet, Asteroid and Jack who are accidentally launched into outer space when they discover an old rocketship.

Networks in the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, South Korea and India will follow later.
