Updated: How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris will host the 61st annual Emmy Awards.
While a deal is yet to be finalised, the actor earned rave reviews as host of the Tony Awards last month.
Last year’s Emmys was disappointingly hosted by five reality TV hosts, in recognition of the first award in that category. Well, four reality hosts and one game show.
Harris has also hosted the TV Land Awards and the Writers Guild Awards.
The event is due September 20, 2009 in the US.

anything should be better then letting the reality people host it. the only one with a personaality was the amazing race host. after watching the acadamy awards the opening of the emmys might be similar
