Trailer: Waters of Mars

In this peek at the next instalment for Doctor Who, you can even catch Peter O'Brien in his guest role.

womA new trailer has been released for Doctor Who: Waters of Mars, the next instalment in the Who franchise.

In this juicy peek you can ever sight one Peter O’Brien who guest stars as Ed, second in command of Adelaide (Lindsay Duncan) the Doctor’s new companion. That’s him sitting in the chair.

Meanwhile actor John Simm will be reprising his role as The Master in the forthcoming Christmas specials. A preview was shown at the San Diego Comic Con, during which the character appeared with other known cast members for the episodes (Bernard Cribbens, Catherine Tate).

On the weekend the Guinness Book of World Records also recognised the show as the most successful science fiction show of all time (sorry Star Trek). Guinness granted the award on the basis of broadcast ratings, DVD sales, book sales and iTunes traffic. “It’s hard to quantify illegal downloads, but we included those as well,” a spokesperson said. Longevity was another factor, since Doctor Who also holds the Guinness record for longest-running sci-fi TV series. A controversy broke out over that record in 2006, and Stargate SG-1 later received the record for longest-running consecutive sci-fi series after completing a 10-year run.

  2. i was just wondering as massive fan of the newer doctor who does any one know When they are airing Water of Mars in australia???? i dont want to miss it!
    Thanks 🙂

  3. Oh on the sg1, dr who thing.

There’s just technicalities. Longest running cable sci fi show, longest running US sci-fi show ect. Just not longest running in the world.

Then the consecutive is a cheat, because the UK tv model is different, and it talks in terms of a us system, coming back each year around the same time with the next season.

It all came out because they were doing publicity for the tenth season and trying to make the show sound more impressive. It is a really underrated series. Never got the credit it deserved.

  4. So there are 4 of these specials, when are the other two, and when does the kid dr who series start? aren’t they already filming that?

  5. OMG why do we have to wait until the end of the year (almost) for this but it will be great to see this and the xMas special.

I just hope ABC fast tracks the air date this time, the xMas one could air Sunday Dec 27, which (correct me if I’m wrong) would only be hours after it airs on Boxing Day in the UK.

  6. Pfft guiness shmuiness we all know Trek is a much better show. I do love Dr Who though mainly the classic era. Speaking of the classic era this title reminds me of a Tom Baker era episode The Pyramids Of Mars.

  7. “On the weekend the Guinness Book of World Records also recognised the show as the most successful science fiction show of all time”

That simply confirms what I have known all along. Bravo.
