West TV, the community TV successor to the defunct Access 31, begins test broadcasts in Perth today.
The digital-only channel will be available on Channel 44 ahead of its full launch on April 10th.
WTV was awarded a trial license for two years following the demise of Access 31 which was forced to declare voluntary administration.
The channel will provide coverage to 95% of metropolitan Perth as well as live web streaming and access via mobile phones.
In addition to local programmes including new singing show Perth Star, WTV will slate a mix of community programmes from interstate broadcasters. Select titles will also be seen on the Foxtel Aurora platform on CH 183.
The channel was originally aiming for a late 2009 start-up.

Same, I re-scanned and got nothing.
Mind you there was nothing in today’s West about it … so I guess maybe the launch date is maybe when we will get something. There’s been no mention of programs either.
I rescanned nothing came up today..
Digital only?
Well that’s one step forward…. but 3/4 steps back with test broadcasting now… and ah er… equipment not working!
According to their facebook page (facebook.com/pages/Perth-Australia/WTV/166032087368) the trial transmission has been delayed due to damaged equipment.
Has anyone in Perth tried to see if they can obtain the channel?
Also what exactly does
test broadcasts mean ?
Can someone explain to me what:
“WTV was awarded a trial license for two years” means
What happens after 2 years ?
