Love under the Rafters roof

Two young actors on Packed to the Rafters have continued their on-screen romance off-screen.

Packed To The Rafters cast members Jessica Marais and James Stewart have turned their on-screen romance, to one off-screen.

Both met when Stewart auditioned for the role on the Seven drama.

Marais, who plays Rachel Rafter has confirmed the relationship with Stewart who plays her on-screen boyfriend, Jake.

“We are very happy, and part of that happiness is taking things slowly,” Marais says.

Stewart said, of his co-star: “Our chemistry is – and I’ve been doing this for 15 years and I’ve probably found it once or twice – just there, and it works.”

Both were nominated for Logie Awards last week with Marais up for a Silver Logie as Most Popular Female Actress and Stewart for Most Popular New Talent (Male).

While gossip mags are always much better at keeping us abreast on celebrity romances, the true-life relationship between Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan led to one of television’s most memorable weddings ….surely now a tempting idea for Rafters’ writers?

  1. …so far this show has done nothing but keep me entertained and tuned in, which for me as – I’m a terrible cynic and normally stear clear of “Aussie Drama” deemed most popular or commercial tv ratings hits and like my telly more SBS and ABC clever drama or comedy not 7 or 9 fluff – is really saying something.

I’m happy with this show, it’s cast and the way it’s been evolving…guess we’ll have to see if they can yet again hit the ground running in 2010, but I for one will be there watching.

Good luck to all involved with “the Rafters” for 2010
