In the wake of South Park being censored by Comedy Central over its reference to the prophet Mohammed, The Simpsons have lent their support… sort of.
This blackboard gag in an episode that has just aired spells it out. Love how quick they are to respond.
The Simpsons recently sent congratulatory wishes to South Park for reaching their 200th episode (and pointed out they’d already done it twice over).

Long before the Simpsons We had Peanuts Cartoons.Charles Schulz would roll in his grave thinking about garbage like South Park that came along in the few years before he died
Matt, generally if a television show starts to drop in quality, you stop watching it. You’d have to be a zombie to put yourself through such subpar and desperate comedy.
It’s called breaking the fourth wall, chalkboard gag has done it before and will keep on doing it.
Some include
I am not a 32 year old woman (a reference to Nancy Cartwright)
I will not defame New Orleans
I will never win an Emmy
I will not complain about the solution when I hear it (reference to Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 2)
I will only do this once a year (reference to the clip show)
I will not wait 20 years to make another movie
And from the movie
I will not illegally download this movie
Gold!
Its funny how so many people hate on the simpsons yet havent watched in years.
like @ryaneco said, there have been a few bad episodes and up and downs in terms of creativity and quality, but then again after 500+ episodes you would expect this. everything goes through cycles and continues to evolve and change.
unless you watch the show regularly i dont think your really entitled to comment on its quality. and in comparison to family guy it only rates at best a million less than a show which has only been around since 2000 or so and is just as competitive in the key demo’s
in other words, compared to the majority of stuff that is on television nowadays, its awesome
I don’t get all the hate for The Simpsons. It did go through a creative slump for a fair few seasons; but alot of the people that pass derogatory comments on the show haven’t watched for years. Since about Season 19 the show has been on a creative resurgance; Season 20 and the current 21 have been great.
I gotta admit… they are starting to Really suck… usually I could find one thing to laugh at in a Simpsons episode… but not this one…
This is a very cool thing for the 2 shows.
As worn out as The Simpsons has become, both South Park and Family Guy arguably owe their existence to the show’s success.
The Simpsons should just worry about how crappy their quality has been for a few years.
Play nice people….
@Adam – Do you even get The Simpsons? It is probably way too irreverent and clever for you.
@Adam… uh, do we really care what your views are? Uh, no!
If you don’t like, don’t comment.
Sillygostly – sometimes live is fun when it makes no sense. Stop being a stuffed shirt and enjoy the nod between two priceless animations
I guess we’ll have to wait at least 6-12 months and hope to hit the constantly changing three-week window in which TEN plays new Simpson’s episodes to see this one…
@ryan Simpsons has sucked for years.

@Sillyghost does it really matter what is written on the blackboard?
Do you mean in an episode about to air because it wasn’t in 21×19 which aired on Sunday.
The Simpsons have done this before, notably way back in 1992 following the episode ‘A Streetcar Named Marge’, which caused outrage in New Orleans as the episode referred to the city as a “home of pirates, drunks and whores… tacky, overpriced souvenir stores”. The chalkboard gag the following week then read “I will not defame New Orleans” in response to the controversy.
In response to this particular chalkboard gag however, it’s lazy. Plain and simple. The chalkboard gag in this instance makes absolutely no sense as it should make at least some reference to why Bart is being punished. Something along the lines of “A bear is not a sufficient scapegoat” or “I will not defend South Park” would have been preferable. We don’t need the bleeding gag spelled out for us. -.-
I remember there was a South Park episode in which they made fun of Family Guy, and the Simpsons crew thanked them for that.
Simpsons rule!!
