No fuss for humble Ray

Yesterday Ray Meagher didn't make any fuss over being voted the most popular TV personality, carrying the Gold Logie in a plastic bag.

It was a relaxed and grateful Ray Meagher who was guest of honour at a post-Logies luncheon held by Seven yesterday.

The Gold Logie winner posed quietly for cameras and didn’t make any fuss over being voted the most popular television personality in Australia. He had spent the morning doing radio interviews after a night toasting his success at a party at the Hilton Hotel.

The industry’s golden trophy was carried unassumingly in a plastic bag.

Joining him were other Seven personalities including Rebecca Gibney, Hugh Sheridan, Zoe Ventoura, George Houvardas, Daniel MacPherson, Jennifer Keyte, Peter Mitchell, Norm Beaman, Molly Meldrum plus Seven execs and staff.

Hugh Sheridan may have lost his Silver Logie the night before (there is always someone every year), but it wasn’t for long,  handed to the watchful care of a network publicist.

Seven Melbourne General Manager Lewis Martin thanked the his team and winners, saying, “The thing that came across last night was not the number of awards, but the way in which we conducted ourselves as a network.

“I thought the speeches from Ray, Rebecca, Jennifer and Normie were just filled with so much class and honesty. After working in this business for nearly 20 years I’ve got to say it was one of the most proud moments to walk away, with such dignity.”
