Returning: How I Met Your Mother, Cougar Town

“You blogged, we listened?”

Seven is bringing back How I Met Your Mother and Cougar Town.

Seven’s Thursday night line-up, which has been a revolving door of shows this year, will undergo another change on June 17th, when it returns two of the shows it removed.

How I Met Your Mother will return with a new episode “Jenkins” at 8:30pm followed by a repeat ep.

At 9:30pm it will air a double dose of Cougar Town beginning with “Rhino Skin.”

Both shows have attracted considerable online comment from fans angered by their removal (last night there was also more anger over the absence of Benidorm). A Criminal Minds repeat will remain in play next week only.

The Courteney Cox comedy replaces The Amazing Race which ends next week.

Seven’s Thursdays continue to under-perform.

Will yet another change bring it better results?

  1. Not all of us have box sets of How I met your mother but all the same I am pleased it is back.Only discovered the show by default on a Thursday Night by accident recently and sometimes have watched when home and away was off for the summer.

  2. even though i am sick to death of it, i watch the big bang theory because its about the only decent thing on at that time but now i can switch to how i met your mother 🙂
its a shame it doesn’t rate so well because its a light change from the other thursday post 8:30 offerings

  3. one of the reasons they moved it is because america have entered ‘summer season’ amd therefore shows arent producing new content, so they have to hold off on some of their good stuff for the second half of the year…..which is now made difficult since everyone wants the stuff straight away, to avoid spoilers…

  4. I fail to see why they removed it at all, if they were only going to shuffle the lineup. This could have been done weeks ago, and we wouldn’t have had to endure Criminal Minds repeats and the awful Benidorm.

  5. About Time.I was getting sick to death of having to watch SBS documentaries on Food and later that rubbish known as Benidorm on 7 in the same timeslot.

Not all of us work late on Thursday Nights and it would be nice to have something light and entertaining to watch.A tasteless disgusting British Comedy just does not cut it Channel 7 so thanks for listening to all the viewers.

  6. Yay. But what about 30 Rock in primetime? And where’s Parks & Recreation?
I still love Criminal Minds as well though. Seriously Seven has new eps of Packed to the Rafters, City Homicide, Criminal Minds. Bones, Castle, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters are all finishing soon so when are these other programs starting cos i’ve heard nothing.

  7. Yay! HIMYM is so funny, and even though ive watched the whole season already, i’ll still tune in! What will be the repeat ep?
as for the amazing race, its been a great season. thankfully it ends before i go away on holidays!
the new lineup cant do any worse in the ratings then the current lineup.
seven should go back to the drawing board and think up some good ideas for the post-masterchef and glee thursdays. maybe it can steal some TEN viewers

  8. HIMYM will help Seven in younger demos and regain some of the viewers who have gone to Ten or GO at that time, while Cougar Town should do about the same as Amazing Race. HIMYM definitely better option over Crim Minds rpts which were very much out of place on Thursday night.

Amazing Race would have done alot better played one hour per week. Rushing through it kills interest. Despite loving the show, I too have something like 4 unwatched double eps built up on my PVR and now make sure I turn away or switch off when Seven advertise the show to avoid seeing who is left.

  9. Too late for Mother; I like Paul am close to finishing; Only got 2 episodes left. Sorry Seven was happy to wait but you screwed the fans over.

  10. we were just talking the other day that Australia doesnt have any american style comedy blocks, like 4x 30min shows in a row, now we have jumped to 7 comedies in a row. i wonder if ch7 will advertise it as a comedy septuple?

  11. Is Amazing race seriously on it’s last episode? This has been a massively short season. I’ve watched 3 episodes and have the others on the HDD recorder, but I’m sure it’s well under 9 that I have (taking into account double eps).

  12. Yay!!!!!!! I’m soooo happy that they’re coming back!! 😀 … Shame about the HIMYM clash with hamish and andy (and glee the following weeks) … but i’ll just tape it and work around it!!

  13. Thursday night is fast dying in my opinion, nothing there has been successful since ER ruled out screens. MasterChef is running on fumes, controversy and a crapton of promotion and people dumb enough to believe that every episode is the “most difficult challenge that the contestants have ever had to face”

  14. 7’s thursdays have been doing pretty poorly but TAR was actually doing pretty well. good luck to any other show getting over 600k from 10:00-midnight on a thurday. cougartown was struggling to do that at 8:30. isn’t this the night of the hamish&andy special? maybe CM would have been wiser just for that week.
