Sting sending his love down the well (for real)

Remember that 1992 episode of The Simpsons when “Timmy” was apparently stuck down a well and they got Sting to sing a We Are the World style song, Sending Our Love Down the Well?
Life could just about be ready to imitate art. Only this time he’ll be sending his love to an oil well.
Larry King is set to host an Oil Spill Telethon and Sting will perform on it?
The telethon will raise funds for nonprofit organisations United Way, the National Wildlife Federation to help people and wildlife hurt by the oil spill.
Also appearing are Justin Bieber, Cameron Diaz, Robert Redford, and Kathy Griffin.
He so has to sing this song
….maybe Justin Bieber could even play “Timmy.”
There’s a hole in my heart,
As deep as a well,
For that poor little boy,
Who’s stuck halfway to hell,
Though we can’t get him out,
We’ll do the next best thing,
We go on TV,
And sing, sing, sing.
And we’re sending our love down the well,
All the way down.
We’re sending our love down the well,
Down that well

Not sure how anyone can say that it’s worse than a few years ago. Around season 17 it got terrible. It’s not up to classic standards by any means but it’s still got a lot better jokes and storylines than most of the other comedies on TV these days (animated or otherwise)
@Bob it’s not even the funniest animated show on TV, American Dad! runs rings around it pretty much every episode. On new Simpsons the best you can hope for are some off the cuff comments from Homer.
who cares about the plot of the new epsodes the show is still the funnist on tv
@Ell: i’m up to date with the new simpsons ( the ones that have aired in Australia) and in my opinion, the episodes are a lot worse than a few years ago- at least episode from mid last decade had a storyline/ a plot. The new ones have weak plot Lines that aren’t satisfying. The humour now days? Well let’s not even go there
Any story with a Simpsons reference is a winner to me!
It’s time BP tried another “junk shot” to seal the well – using Justin Beiber might work better than old tyres and stuff did. Even if it fails at least we’ll only have one disaster to worry about afterwards!
I hope they didn’t leave a “Property of BP” label on that drill bit!
1992? Suddenly I feel old.
A good laugh, David. You could prob knock something up on this for The Onion.
I’m all for people helping out to save wildlife and sandbag and whatever else in regards to the oil spill, but it should not be a charity. BP should be paying for the lot of it, and even volunteers should be paid by them. Why should anybody hand over their hard earned cash when this the fault of a multi-billion dollar company?
Sorry, that’s all.
“…go on TV and sing, sing, siiiing….” hahah classic 😀
And get Arnie to sing, sing, sing McBain’s part!
Good reminiscing!
Justin Bieber is clear cut proof that the children of stupid people should have vasectomies performed on them. let’s pray that he does not breed.
I still think the people that bag The Simpsons probably haven’t watched the past few seasons. They have improved significantly compared with a 3-4 years ago.
This story makes me nostalgic for when The Simpsons was clever and witty and actually entertaining… Those days are long since gone on the show.
That episode is a true classic! Now days in the simpsons it’s not Timmy that’s stuck down the well, rather it’s entertainment and good writing.
Love Krustys part in that song..Down that well 🙂
And if we could just get Justin Beiber down a well and leave him there!
David only you would turn a charity concert into a shamelss Simpsons fest!!! Nice work!!
