Returning: Rush

By David Knox on July 5, 2010 / Filed Under Programming 24

As expected, Rush is back to Thursday nights on TEN from 8:30pm Thursday July 22nd.

This is the third season for the energetic TEN drama.

It will get just one week with a MasterChef lead-in, which is a little disappointing. Had it premiered earlier it might have built a better following this year. Presumably production delivery didn’t coincide.

There are some very US-style promos for the show running around. Even the voice-over guy sounds like he should be plugging a Tom Cruise flick.

An attack on a police helicopter and a series of car bombings appear to be unrelated events until it emerges that they form part of an elaborate attempt to rob a cash-holding facility.

As someone who loves the movie Speed and movies like it, I like the promo.

And yes, this ad is a spoof of over the top American movie trailers, I hope the show lives up to it.

Sea Patrol is a clunky joke of a drama. Very surprised if these shows would have the same audience.

    Lucy,
The promo during MC was still with American voice over wasnt it?

That voiceover makes Shaun Micallef’s deliberately phony American accents sound convincing. -.-”

Nope. Rafters v East West 101.

@Craig Sea Patrol has 16 eps so 4 eps to go. Will be against Rush for two.

Will be very interesting to see this battle. First time two Aussie dramas have gone head to head since Rush v All Saints in 08.

I say SP will win but not by much, I’ll have to record one because I love both showsl

    When does Sea Patrol end?

Ep 13 of the season is this week.

Looks like they’ve dumped the American voice over for the new promo edit aired during MasterChef.

I agree about the promo, it doesn’t really suit the tone of the show. When I first saw it I thought it might be a new Rush game … and the graphics in that add at the end…looks more like it should be advertising a razor!

Love the show tho, and will Definitely be watching…can’t wait! :)

I cant wait for Rush; its one of my favourites. I hope they drop the American accent though, its wierd. I wish it all the best, its grown so much over its first 2 seasons.

“Had it premiered earlier it might have built a better following this year.”

I disagree. Last year it also had a week of MasterChef lead-in and did exactly the same ratings as the following week when it was after Rules of Engagement. It only dipped when Nine put new CSI against it.

Those new promos are the a total embarrassment, definately pitching it to the lowest common denominator this year.

Hope the shows writing has not been done by whoever put the promo together

Not a fan of the American accent. This is an Australian show and they should be promoting it as such.

  14. Jerome July 5, 2010 at 2:58 pm -

i don’t like the promo, i thought it looked like it was advertising some kind of spoof.

it’s going to need a lot of support to rate well. surprising bondi vet got priority next week, it wouldcale be better off starting next week and having 2 weeks with MC leadin, they probably could have done 3 weeks if they handled glee better and used the thursday AFL as a transition. surely the production ndar would have allowed it to air 1 or 2 weeks earlier. especially with the commonwealth games meaning there will nw have to be 5 double episodes if they want to finish it in the ratings year.

Yeah… “American”… twenty minutes of editing and guys screaming their lines doesn’t make it American, it makes it mediocre. Perhaps they should watch some ER or Lost promos.

  16. Dinkum Dave July 5, 2010 at 1:33 pm -

The Americanisation of Australia continues. Soon, there will be no more Australian accent.

  17. Kai July 5, 2010 at 12:47 pm -

Seems like Ten have changed the accent to Australian in the voice over if they keep playing the one that was on last night…

@ Neon Kitten: Hahah best comment so far. OneHD is such a waste of space.
    Good show, lame promo.

    Rush v Sea Patrol.

I can see that being an ugly contest with both cannibalizing each others audience.

im so happy that this show is coming back its the only aussie drama show that i like.

The only thing I hate is the cheesey voice over guy in the new promo its so not needed and the flash 3d words.

  21. Neon Kitten July 5, 2010 at 10:24 am -

    Should look great in HD.

    Oh, wait…

  22. J Bar July 5, 2010 at 8:59 am -

The fake American accent on the promos is shonky. Hate it, with a passion.

  23. Craig July 5, 2010 at 7:58 am -

Maybe they have it on the 22nd to avoid Sea Patrol?

  24. bindi July 5, 2010 at 7:00 am -

The promos have to be a joke, they seem a bit tounge-in-cheek to me, they are just so over the top I laugh when I see them.
