Nine Perth appoints News Director

As media continue to trade places in Perth, Nine News announces its next News Director.

Stewart Richmond has been announced as News Director for Nine News Perth and WIN News WA following the resignation of Adrian Beattie earlier this month.

Richmond was formerly WIN Western Australia News Editor from 2006 to 2007, and instrumental in the set up of WIN News regionally throughout WA. He has held senior positions at the Nine, Seven and the TEN Networks across Australia, as well as being WIN News Director in Tasmania and News Director of GWN.

“Nine and WIN are a very talented and committed team. I have many friends and former colleagues at STW and look forward to working with them again,” he said.

In other changes in WA media, ABC weekend newsreader Craig Smart takes up the job the 5pm TEN position held by Narelda Jacobs, who is moving on to head the 6.30pm local news in the new year. Beattie takes up a senior journalist role with the West Australian.

Richmond begins on October 11, 2010.
