Today makes peace with Sunrise…sorta…

There was a bit of a cheeky moment on the Today show when Karl and Lisa had a dig at Sunrise.

There was a bit of a cheeky moment this morning on the Today show when Karl Stefanovic were discussing whether Aussies are becoming bad sports by “flipping the bird,” as happened at the Commonwealth Games.

When Karl Stefanovic said he was recently flipped the bird by an elderly female driver, Lisa Wilkinson asked if she might have been a Sunrise viewer.

Karl reportedly said something about her having “that sort of class” before making the “peace” sign.

“Just joking Mel, we know you watch before going on air,” he quipped.

Cheeky buggers….

  1. Karls humour seems more natural than kochies.
    @Leigh .
Don’t all American entertainment reporters regardless of their sexuality, have high pitched over the top voices?
They go on like they are talking on some 1940’s phone line. Where if you were talking to someone who wasn’t next door, you had to yell.

  2. It all in good humour. Its like the time Beretts mentioned he was at an event where you could do some form of racing and mentioned how he beat karl. Then said But Karl is used to coming 2nd. he didnt say it in a nasty way but it was very funny.

  3. Agree with Gus
The set and chairs are a disgrace
you can see all the marks on the table this morning and the chairs look like they have come from vinnies
Were are the majour sponser with some nice furniture
Talk about small nine budget morning tele

  4. I like Karl and Lisa. The problem with the show is Richard Wilkins and his screaming American friend, not to mention Steve Jacobs. That American guy with Wilko is an embarrasment… Makes me ill. I’m gay btw, my intolerence of him has nothing to do with his sexuality – well maybe a bit to do with him perpetuating old stereotypes.

  5. The Today set and the presenters all look like they are stuck in the 80’s or at best early 90’s (which has arguably given us the worst fashion ever!).

Sunrise is light years ahead, like like it is from another galaxy, very fresh and up beat.

  6. There should be less fear on Aussie TV of mentioning other channels. We all know they exist. It’s more odd when shows never mention other network shows specifically.

Besides, it’s more fun when they do. Like Letterman bagging Leno every few shows in the US.

  7. I’ve seen both here and there.

I think the reason Sunrise does better is it has a more laid back vibe. You get that with Natalie Barr not taking herself too seriously. Also the set is better, even though the people looking through the glass at Martin Place gets annoying, it gives you a feel that they are closer, therefore more connected to everyday people. Just little observations i’ve made whilst being on annual leave

Whatever, interestingly as well thst Today usually beats Sunrise in Sydney as does Nine NEWS against Seven NEWS
