Nine will offer viewers another behind the scenes look at its News service on Tuesday night, this time from QTQ-9.

It follows a similar streaming interview with Peter Overton, Peter Hitchener and Ken Sutcliffe in December.

Appearing will be Andrew Lofthouse and Melissa Downes plus Nine News Adelaide presenter, Michael Smyth from the Adelaide studio.

It will also include a tour of the Nine News Chopper as young cameraman of the year, Mitch Wall, shows the technology used in the chopper. The chopper will take to the air to show viewers how the camera works in action.

Brisbane News Director, Lee Anderson, will talk about what it takes to cover a major story like the floods.

  1. @ Stan,
Nine Adelaide already has a new set, but the problem is, it looks like every other nine news set with the exact same desk. There is big competition in Adelaide news at the moment with Ten broadcasting their news in Adelaide with a new set as of Monday, nine now have a new set however seven aren’t changing anything (yet). Adelaide news has never been more competitive.

  2. Wow! Never thought I’d see any WIN-produced ‘Nine News’ people get behind this too. I heard Adelaide is getting a new set soon. Maybe they want to show it off?

  3. It’s so strange. Nine is so old fashioned in some respects but so ahead in other ways. Their actual news scripts are a bit old hack and try and jam as many cliches in each story as they can. Their senior journalists are very senior. And their professionalism often dips a bit when nicknames are constantly thrown around. However they are certainly leading the way in innovative ideas to get people engaged in their news. Ie. the use of twitter (even attributions in supers), behind the scenes stuff, their fancy graphics and set, their presenting style (more joint newsreader intros) and a huge amount of live crosses. I think Seven and Ten will need to jazz things up a bit this year to keep up.
