Major talent on Ramsay Street

Actor Scott Major, who has directed episodes of Neighbours, now hopes to write for the ELEVEN soap.

Actor Scott Major, who has directed episodes of Neighbours, now hopes to write for the ELEVEN soap.

Major, who plays Lucas Fitzgerald, said: “It’s going very well – I have another episode which I directed coming up soon and I’m about to start work on a few more.”

The first ep he directed aired in November.

“I have actually put in a submission to the writing department to write an episode and I’ve also written a six-part TV series set in Camden, London, which some producers over in the UK are looking at, so I definitely would like to pursue TV writing.”

A multi-skilled performer is nothing new to Ramsay Street. Ian Smith was a writer for Neighbours before appearing on screen as Harold Bishop. Former star Jonathan Dutton also returned to the soap to direct episodes.

Major says, “Australia is a very small industry acting-wise. I’ve been doing it professionally for 21 years and you just have to have more strings to your bow than acting.”

I meant a long-term relationship rather than a fling. The first time they were together only lasted a few weeks and the second time they were just sleeping together. I’d like to see them grow closer over time and make it a long-term story rather than a rushed one – that is, if both actors plan to stay on the show for years to come.

  2. @ kfed – I’d have to disagree with you there Lucas is an interesting character & he isn’t always miserable. He’s happy at the moment and back living with Kate & Sophie. I do agree with another poster that he should hook up with Libby but more seriously then before. They make a good couple.

  3. I’m glad these actors who grew up on our screen (remember Major as Rivers on Heartbreak High?) are given an opportunity to lengthen their careers by directing and writing. I think Sam Atwell (Kane) had a writing credit on an episode of Home and Away this week. I know he has directed several episodes, as has former cast member Danny Raco.

  4. Are you kidding KFed ? Lucas Is one of the best characters on the show and not to mention that Scott Is one of the better actors on the show , I mean who do think Is better ? , Bouncer ? .

  5. Lucas is the worst character on the show. Always miserable and always in a completely uninteresting storyline. He’s currently living in a shed. To be honest, though, I’m not sure there’s much you can do with him because he wasn’t much more interesting when he used to have better storylines. How about a bomb blast?

  6. Good luck to Scott, he’s a talented guy and a major asset to the show (pardon the pun). Lucas is a great character but he needs some meatier storylines and to be more involved with the rest of the street. Since Elle left he’s been a bit of an outcast. I’d love to see some romance bloom with Lucas and Libby. Both characters need some happiness in their lives and their past flings have really brought out their fun, flirty sides.
