Industry parties into the night

Last night was the night of the year the industry lets down its hair: stars, execs, producers, publicists, media and more.

The TV industry was partying into the night after the 53rd TV Week Logie Awards.

After the official Logie after-party, networks split into separate areas, mostly in and around Crown Entertainment Complex. Nine again partied in rooms just outside the Palladium, while TEN celebrated in The Waiting Room at Crown Towers and Seven partied atop the Metropol.

ABC was further afield at the Lindrum Hotel in Flinders Street.

All three had DJs and an open bar, mostly until 3AM. Foxtel and SBS faces mingled at various parties. Even some commercial stars were seen at ‘rival’ network parties. But all were made welcome -this is the night of the year the industry lets down its hair: stars, execs, producers, publicists, media and more. It’s also the night when reporting is strictly off limits.

Many guests thought Shane Bourne (who joined the Seven party) did a great job on the night, but there was some comment about Johanna Griggs’ remark to Karl Stefanovic during her acceptance speech for Better Homes and Gardens. There were even a few boos in the Logie room.

The Circle Producer Pam Barnes (pictured, right) was beaming like a proud mum at the success of show winning Most Popular Light Entertainment as well as Chrissie Swan’s New Talent award. Yumi Stynes (pictured, left) joined in the celebrations at the TEN party.

A number of guests were surprised to learn how long the event lasted on air, agreeing that wrapping just before midnight was too late for audiences.

The music acts, especially Jessie J., were a hit with many guests.

After the parties wrapped, no doubt some headed for hotel rools to continue the celebrations. There are also industry lunches scheduled for today, although many shows don’t stop the wheels of production and continue filming even today.

NB: TV Tonight also has some Red Carpet vox pops to publish in the next day or two.

  1. @ steveany, thanks for your advice, however judging by Jakes hateful comments elsewhere on this site, I’m sure he would not be intimidated into not commenting. I do agree with what you have said about my “Get a life” comment though, it was inappropriate.

  2. She is an uptight bitter woman who clearly isn’t getting any… He was loving on his wife, not being a hater. Sore someone else has got up? It was a genuine exhilarated expression of how he was feeling, she is a big downer….. And Im a diehard feminist .She is just cranky and not happy with her butt….

  3. @Sarah h,
This could go on and on. I never said that the rumour was true. I just said that as about 22 million Australians don’t watch the Circle, who knows (or cares) if a rumour about this insignificant show is true or not.

  4. I wonder if Network Ten’s after party was good or bad also did James Packer or Lachlan Murdoch or the rest of the Board members attend the party. Also i am pretty sure that James Warburton was there as a soon to be employee of Ten.

  5. @steveany: Well said. I enjoyed the Logies last night, but this site wouldn’t be what it is without its share of positive and negative comments. You’d be surprised who in the industry actually reads them.

  6. @Moanique Rothschild
You are entitled to write whatever you like. So are the rest of us. But when people like you start getting personal and ‘playing the man instead of the ball’ , as you did with Jake, you create an environment where people may not feel like commenting lest they get a gobful from an outraged Madame Rothschild.
It’s nice that you like the Logies. Allow others to disagree with you.

  7. @Moanique Rothschild
You’re right about Jake but you shouldn’t be telling him to ‘get a life’.
If any of the commenters (including you (and me)) ‘had a life’, we’d be out doing something useful and not writing in to this blog.
    Pot/Kettle!

  8. Mike. S judging by Denise beaming like a proud mum everytime she looks at Chrissie on The Circle this morning, I think the feud is nothing more than a rumour.

  9. @sarah h,
As hardly anybody watches the Circle, I guess we’ll have to take your word for it.
Apparently Denise said that if Chrissie won the gold Logie, she hand her 2 back.

  10. That rumour about Denise and Chrissie is false. Typical newspaper trying to start a story about an all female program and some of them dont get on.

You just have to see them together on the circle to know how much they adore each other.

  11. then Jake, i ask you this…why a) read David’s article…and then b) go to the trouble of leaving a comment…if, as you say (this story) “conjures up up about as much interest to me as “that” wedding on Friday night did………absolutely Zero!!…” please keep your comments to yourself.

  12. Of course the rumours about Chrissie and Denise are false, you just have to watch the Circle to see that they adore each other!

But props to the show for getting into the rumour mill, means they’ve made it. 😉

  13. Just read a newspapaper report that l find a sour note about Chrissie Swans win, they is a reported fued between Chrissie and co host Denise Drysdale.I love both woman and hope the gossip is lies.
