Is this The Block 2012?

Melbourne will again host the next season of The Block. Could it be these homes sold recently in South Melbourne?

On Monday TV Tonight ran a rumour that Melbourne would again be the setting for the next season of The Block.

Nine has now confirmed that rumour.

But while South Yarra was floated as a possible site it may have only been half right.

Attention now swings to South Melbourne and to four rundown terrace properties that were recently sold in Dorcas Street.

Each has separate titles, with plans and permits already in place to add third stories at the rear, that would allow for views of the city. The sale sign for the property has an artist’s impression of what could be possible (pictured). But it would never finish like that under 4 designers.

Although the location is on a road with considerable public access, the area has previously been used for other film and television shoots.

And just as the current series of The Block has a celebrity neighbour in Molly Meldrum, so too does this site.

Father Bob Maguire….

  1. South Melb would be just perfect. Has it all. A stone throw to Albert Park Lake, mins from the fresh food market, short walk into the cbd, claredon st. I think Sth Melb is better than Richmond

  2. In 2010 the exterior of the property was renovated in a single style based on discussion between the 4 teams. They didn’t design the exterior separately for separate apartments, so no reason the property can’t look like what is pictured.
