Cloudstreet gets UK deal
Showtime's acclaimed miniseries Cloudstreet will air on SKY Atlantic later this year.

Showtime’s acclaimed miniseries Cloudstreet has been picked up in the UK.
Based around the award-winning Tim Winton novel, it will air onPay TV provider SKY Atlantic later this year.
The series, starring Kerry Fox, Stephen Curry, Essie Davis, Emma Booth, Geoff Morrell, Todd Lasance and Hugo Johnstone-Burt follows two rural families, the Pickles and the Lambs, who after suffering tragedies, move to the city, share a house and start their lives over again.
“Epic, cinematic, beautifully written and directed, and featuring extraordinary performances, Cloudstreet is a perfect fit for SKY Atlantic HD,” said the channel’s director Elaine Pyke.
International distributors, Target Entertainment, has acquired the international sales rights which it will present to buyers at MIPCOM in October.
Roadshow Entertainment recently acquired the DVD rights for Australia and DVD and television rights in New Zealand.

So glad we will be able to see Cloudstreet on UK TV but as Shintaro says, its a shame one of the mainstream stations didnt pick it up, but hey, its better than not getting it at all. Cant wait.

Someone needs to tell Sky the Australia isn’t in the Atlantic!
Cloudstreet was an appalling waste of money and talent. I loved the book and the play based on the book, but the TV version was a travesty – so poorly written as to be barely comprehensible. Most of the characters became unlikeable. It doesn’t stand a chance of holding an audience in the UK.
At least we’re getting networks overseas buying our programming, this is great news! The more we’re selling the more money that is pumped into our industry, the more cash we have to play with.

Well, it’s a sale, I guess, but this channel is fairly new and hasn’t ever had an audience of more than 1.5 million for any program. Think they would have been hoping for much better than this from the U.K.
